Safari 22' sport vs Flying Cloud 20'

I think I have narrowed down my choices for a new airstream between these 2 models. However, each one has it's draw backs, the Safari has the cloth lined walls and the Cloud has the door that opens to block the refer vents. The positive side of the Cloud is that it has the aluminum interior but the Safari has a 3 way refer. Each one is about $39k- any one have any suggestions?

Which one does your wife like? Should be pretty straight forward after that.

I have a 20 foot 2008 Safari Special Edition which is essentially the same as the 20 foot Flying Cloud. I have never experienced any problems with the refrigerator cooling when the trailer door was open.

They're both great compact maneuverable trailers, with usable floor plans that make good use of space.

The longer dinette in the Sport is nice if you have more than two for dinner, or want to sprawl out when someone else has the gaucho.

You don't have to build the bed each night in the Cloud, but the Sport's dinette bed would be bigger, if sleep space is a concern.

We don't have a problem with the "mouse fur" walls - they provide some sound deadening, and you can hang items with carpet hooks.

We've been really happy with the Sport - that little bit of extra length is what put us over the top.

The Safari Sport is a much lighter trailer, by about 1000 lb. It's also not as tall inside and not as wide. I'd say it depends on if you want a little more room or an easier trailer to tow.

We have a 2008 Safari SE 20, virtually the same as a 2009 Flying Cloud except for the nameplate and different pattern flooring. We purchased our AS last summer and at the time were actually very interested in the Safari 22 Sport. After looking at the Sport, and discussing price with the salesman, we wandered around the dealership display area while our salesman was discussing our offer with the sales manager. We noticed the Safari SE 20, which we had never seen before, and stepped inside for a look see. The first thing that I noticed was that this was the model depicted in the 2008 Safari brochure. It has an amazingly large galley, and photographs quite well. It also has the wrap around front window. One of the things we liked about the Sport was the rear bathroom which actually is quite spacious. The Safari SE 20's bathroom area is about the same size and plenty large for my wife and I and we are not petite. When the salesman appeared again we informed him that we were also interested in the Safari SE 20, perhaps more so than the Sport. His response was that the Safari SE 20 was more expensive. At the time and at that dealership the MRSP for the Sport as configured was 38,500 and the Safari SE 20 was 54,000. I can assure you that I did not pay that much for it, and probably could have bought the Sport for about 31,000. I think when you compare both units, the Safari SE 20 (with the SE package) and in general is just "more for the money". I'm not sure where you got the idea that the door affects the refrigerator function. We have had no problems with our refrigerator and we are in Arizona. Whatever you decide, welcome to the Airstream family and enjoy your new Airstream trailer. Same questions here as well. I am looking for a 22 ft sport to pull behind my Jeep Liberty. With a 5000 max weight I think the sport is my only option.
