Ordering New - List of Mods?

Considering buying new....on lot vs. special order...

Specific question here..

Is there a place that has a list of the stuff jackson center will do special order?

Also, are there many examples of such things that turn out less expensive or much more optimal if done direct from jackson center?

Thanks ahead of time! You all have been extremely informative so far!

Dealers can tell you about the options available and their prices. "Special order" that is not factory options cost $500 each plus the cost of whatever you wanted as extra.

Options generally are things like Awnings or extra awnings, Oven vs. Convection/microwave, Leather vs. cloth, counter top colors, solar package, inverter package and possibly 16 vs. 15 inch tires and wheels.

This site lets you "build your own", complete with pricing. Every model is available to build. There are almost NO options for the Sport model.

I have not seen the cost for the factory upgrade to 16 inch tires/wheels - Michelins I believe. Does anyone know the cost to add to a factory order. I believe it is an option now and not an upgrade with the $500 additional fee.

Highly recommend factory solar (2 panels, control, Highline batteries), full awning pkg, Ultraleather upholstery, 16'' Michelin tire/wheel pkg, and dealer-installed Propride hitch.

We have these and are grateful for them every time we use the Airstream.

During the research for ordering a new unit, I was informed that the factory is overwhelmed with orders and no customization other than factory stock options on the price list will be done.

Thus, I will install the 16" Michelin tires and SenDel wheels my self along with the Centramatics wheel balancers. They were NOT an option on the 2014 Classic model's price list. I will select an excellent third party (non-dealer) to install a much larger than factory solar system.

I also could NOT order the usual dealer ordered microwave and increase the 27FB pantry back to full capacity (mircowave option take 1/3 of pantry space). We do not ever use a microwave at the house, so do not need one in the trailer that works only when plugged into shore power.

Hmm...interesting....

I hope to find a nice model on the lot and get a good price in november at this point.....the more I read on this subject, the more I think I can just do mods myself after the fact with cash money through other routes...we will see....if I get a good deal in november at a dealer, that will be fine, but otherwise I may but in special order for say spring...

I have heard from some folks on here, that many of the mods through JC end up costing more anyway...would like to get the michellins 16inch wheels though...and dealer installed pro pride hitch...

Don't forget that any factory options are part of the Airstream and subject to price negotiation. Our options were nicely installed during the factory build and come under the two year Airstream warranty.
