Thumbs up New A/S Depreciation

Does anyone have a rule of thumb one could pass on about "off the lot" depreciation of a new 16' Bambi? Trying to determine "cost of ownership" in keeping a unit 1, 2, 5 years, etc. These little guys have a pretty high MSRP, so I'm assuming their initial depreciation will be pretty steep; all the more reason to strike the best price possible when buying new or find the right used model.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

The answer is "it depends". The biggest factor is what you paid for the unit when new. The biggest depreciation hit would be in the first year.

For instance, we bought our 2005 Safari 25FB in June of 2006 for $37,800. Right now, these models go in the $25-30,000, depending on condition. Condition is a big factor in the used RV market.
