MSRP variables and dealer profit

I am looking at a 2010 Flying Cloud and see dealer MSRP's range from $74,000 to $84,000 for comparable units - how can I tell what's real and what type of end price would be reasonable? Thanks, Perplexed and confused.

There is a lot written on this subject in the Buyers Guidelines under the FORUM section.
Some are from 2009 and are still relavent about % off list, etc.
Just compare apple to apples when looking. With MSRP's as much as $10,000 difference as you stated, it sounds like you are comparing one with a lot of extras and one that has very few if any extras. Maybe that's what is causing you to get confused? Just narrow it down to what extras you want on a specific model you like.
Good Luck and have fun looking.

MSRP differences

Thanks Bluto - all the units I've priced have had very little difference in equipment - Since my post I discovered that some dealers ' mark up ' MSRP before discounting .

Did you check Colonial Airstream? If they had the best price see if a dealer closer to you will match it. Colonial seems to be the lowest on price, but they sell a ton of units. For 10 grand I'd plan a road trip.

Once you narrow down what you want, i suggest doing a thorough search on RV sales sites like rvtraderonline.com and see how they price out. There can be a huge difference in price depending on the dealer.

Good luck with your shopping.

Check as many prices from different dealers as you can...Bill Thomas and Bayer RV in Dublin Texas are good dealers and there are others. Just let the dealers know that you are looking for the best deal and as an Airstreamer you don't mind traveling.

Thanks all - I checked with both Colonial and Bates - both very helpful and knowledgeable. An informed consumer is a better consumer!!

BTW, if you look around, you should be able to get a new AirStream
at least 20% below MSRP. I found this to be true in 2007. It may
be even more in today's economy. Good luck.
