Fair deal?
Hi,
My fiancé and I are looking at a 23fb flying cloud 2014. We love the unit, and are so excited to go on many adventures together! But, we want to make sure we get a fair deal. That said, any feedback on the following numbers?
Msrp: $66858
Walk out the door w hitch, taxes (6%), and fees: $63000
Not sure if we should move forward or not. Any advice would be great!

Seems decent to me. The "shoot for" discount is 15% of MSRP - but the bigger the unit the easier that is to get. 10% discount would be close to $60,200. 15% would be about about $57,800. 6% tax - $3468. A middle of the road hitch $500.
OK deal, but two considerations. Make sure OUT THE DOOR means just that - what about tax and title? Any little shitty "hitch setup charge" or "dealer prep and inspection" etc. And don't forget there are needed things you will have to buy - a white hose, slinky dump hose or alternative, chocks, etc. (the awning pole, stabilizer jack crank and a crank for the front jack - in case of power failure - should be included). Any little bonuses are nice.
Before you pop on this deal, do take a moment to look at the Forum Classifieds. I bought new my first time, and the second for that matter. One of the best things about buying used this last time was that the previous owner took the huge up front depreciation. (your mileage may vary - but I'm hundreds of miles from the nearest dealer and I fulltime. I can't WAIT until it's convenient to visit the dealer to get repairs done, so I do a LOT of small things myself, and because the warranty is now kaput I pay to have other things done that you might get for free. Even if I had the warranty I might pay for many of those things. Warranty service vs saving $5K to $10K???? on a 1 to 3 year old model?

Seems like the $63,000 was with hitch, fees, and sales tax, which makes it like 15% off.
Like I said, looks good to me.
Gotta leave the dealer and the factory a little cut. They gotta eat and pay lights, too.
Usually first time buyers get an RV stater kit which includes water hose , sewer hose, bio degradable toilet paper, tank chemical, etc.
Usually hitch work is "worked into the deal".
When I bought my first trailer I left the dealership hitched up and ready to camp. I had negotiated an electric tongue jack and slide topper awing.
I left the dealership and drove straight to a campground and started camping.
It is on that "shakedown" inaugural trip that you figure out which accessories or "goodies" or "extras" make it better for you or make it more convenient or fit into your lifestyle or hobbies.
If you ever get a second trailer you can negotiate deeper- no hitch work, no "starter kit", etc.
Buy the trailer.
Go camping.
Life is good.

In the interest of helping, we are due to pick up our 25fb Flying Cloud in a couple weeks. We are looking at 63k before tax, (6.5%) title and license. We ordered a ProPride hitch separately from the dealership.
It is being delivered with inverter and awning package. I did the best I could and are looking at about 16% off MSRP.
Good luck, hope this helps a bit for reference.

We are in the midst of a deal on a 2014 23FB. Right now the offer is at 14% off MSRP and they will change out the Mica countertops to Night. Does anyone have an opinion of the countertop change. I'm a little hesitant to have them take apart a new unit. How does 14% with $15,000 down and 3.99% interest for my choice of months.

I think I would be nervous about the counter change, but I tend to worry and fret. I just got a 2014 25fb with hitch and bike rack for 19% off MSRP and 3.99%.

The more I thought about the countertop change, the less I liked the thought. We decided to wait and see if another unit in the 1st choice color comes up. If not we will go with a 2015. I hear the Golden Night is changing to Cashew Night and that sounds good too. As for the deal, there will always be another deal offered.

Wow! 19% hitch and bike rack! Nice deal! My dealer came back with offer to pull it back to factory and change out counter there and back the next day. I'm thinking 15% plus bike rack and factory counter change. How's that?

On this particular Airstream what is the dollar difference between 15% and 19%?
I would feel much better about the factory making this change, but that's just me. I have heard very good things about their service department.
Don't forget if you wait for a 2015 to get what you want there will likely be a price escalation.

MSRP is $67,179, so 15% is $ 57,102 and 19% is $54,415, or $2,687. The word is a 3% price increase for 2015. The info comes out on May 15th. Also the word is the Golden UL is changing to Cashew. Hmm, choice of new color vs. $2,000.

So not a huge difference between 15 and 19 %, and it's even smaller when you factor in cost of changing the counter. Obviously it's your decision and others may disagree, but I would probably try to get a little more off the price. I am certain of one thing.......
I'm happy to have my new 25fb, and I no longer have to agonize over offers and MSRP and % off. Now I can spend my time getting it set up and CAMP.
