Considering a 1967 Overlander

Dear Forum,
My dream of owning a A/S might be a reality if my research holds up, but I wanted to send this out to those of you familiar with the 1967 28'?? Overlander. It was posted as item #290161734472 on e-bay.
Do any of you have some thoughts about this year's reliability? I'd prefer an older model, but budget being what it is, I'm afraid it might be out of my reach. Originality is important to me.

Don't consider too long or it will be gone!
Anyway, you say originality us important and if it is, and if you find one in good condition, you will find that, if the owner knows present values, you will spend some good money. Now, that being said, you are considering a 40 yr old piece, so in reality, it is more likely that there will be some problems, than not. If you have found one that you can inspect, and you find it in good condition, get busy and make it yours.
By the way, Maryville was home for me from birth until my 30's. Love the area in which you live. In-laws live outside of Seymore.

A few questions to ask and things to consider:
It has a few dents and you need to know about them. The picture that shows the curb side suggests a large one over the tires - but it could be a shadow. Dents can be expensive to fix.
A trailer this vintage has no grey tank.
How old is the rubber?
Does it leak? (yes they leak sometimes and floor repairs are a pain).
On the other hand... if you love the layout and are handy, this could be a load of fun.
You can fix and repair as time and budget permit.

It looks nice... but I'm partial to '67s.

If you not too picky you may be able to use it as-is, but you may also need to put $3000-$5000 into it on top of the $6600 buy-it-now price to make floor/frame/axle repairs if necessary... so be prepared.

A good thing is that the new awning and tires are probably worth $2000 of the $6600. so you've got a head start.

I'd ask for more pictures of the bathroom and the underside of the trailer.

Odd - I thought the price was reasonable for what was being offered. Wonder why it didn't sell?

If it gets relisted, here's a few things I noticed about it:

'67 Overlanders were sold as 26 foot (not 28 foot) travel trailers even though they measure 26' 11".

The water heater access door appears to be a solid sheet of metal. So the Airstream either has no water heater, or has a point-of-use system.

This Overlander did not come from the factory with air conditioning. Someone has replaced the Solardome's opening with a modern-day AC. Too bad - I like the daylight the solardome provides.

The lister's title is low on trailer weight. Dry weight, with no AC, is 4230 pounds. Tongue weight is 478. However, the AC is supposed to be mounted over the axles, so I would expect the tongue weight to be a bit higher than spec.
