Classifieds best place to search?

All you members of this forum have such beautiful units you have restored and kept nice for many many years, some handed down in your family's. If and when you decide to sell your units do you put them on the classifieds here or do you offer them to forum members first? Was just wondering if there was a thread or area where you put them before you decide to offer to the "public" on the Air Forums Classifieds.

I dont want to miss out on a really nice one!

Thanks always for your help!

If you are hunting for an Airstream my advice is look at every source including our classifieds. Use google, Ebay, Craigslist, etc. Local news papers and autotrader type publications can be a good source. Also contact the wbcci units in your part of the country - sometimes long time WBCCI members sell their trailers via WBCCI newsletters.

Most importantly be patient! It may take some time to find exactly what you are looking for and when you do you will need to move fast - the good ones get snapped up fast!

Private sales can be a better deal financially. A trailer brought from a consignment seller, rv dealer or reseller will be marked up to reflect their costs and profit margin. And most importantly - be careful. There are unscrupulous sellers out there or often just uninformed ones. Inspect the trailer, know what you are getting into - a vintage trailer will likely have some repair issues and you want to be aware before buying what they might be.

Janet thank you for your time at ASF. We sold our cute Caravel through your site and we stand by what we say. Ebay is a venue for people to see the rig however we took ours off ebay 12 hours before the close of the auction and sold it through airstream forums. I personally would not buy on ebay as you do not know what you are getting. Even in a personal sale you may not know what you are getting. I recommend getting a volunteer to look at a rig with a lst timer. Chances for fewer errors.

It's also a really good idea to attend a rally or two near you. Many rallies have "open houses" so that you can stop by and see a bunch of different trailers all at once. It helps narrow down exactly what you want.

For example, we knew we didn't want a big trailer, but we wanted a bit more room than a Caravel. 20-21 feet just felt "right" to us - wouldn't have known without being in a bunch of trailers.

Otherwise, yeah - cast a wide net in your search. I finally found our Argosy by googling Argosy Minuet. It was on page 7, as part of the used inventory at an Airstream dealer...
