Buy extra warranties from Dealer

Anyone every get the interior fabric protector, the tire guard, or the extended warranty?

I have gotten the Xylon for my cars and that stuff is great, so thinking the same type material would be good for the AS. Anyone have experience with them?

Thanks!

You can probably do a fabric treatment yourself for a lot less than the dealer will charge. I don't even know what a "tire guard" is. Generally, the extended warranties are not worth the money.

This seems to come up at least once a month. General consensus seems to be any policies are a waste of money are designed to generate pure profit for the dealer.

Those things are usually just high profit items for the dealer and not so good for the buyer, IMO. But do what makes you happy, of course.

We purchased an extended warranty when we bought our 2014 International. I NEVER buy extended warranties but I did this time. The coverage is for 9 years and glad i did. This unit had many problems. None were serious but for the most parts they were just common bugs but some of the problems we had would have been extremely costly. Each to his own, but the comfort of having a warranty in this case had paid off thus far because some of the problems we faced were not covered under a normal warranty but since this is probably our last Airstream so I won't do this again.

A Happy Camper

Buy extended warranties from dealer

BillyG,
We too have a 2014 International - ours is 30' - and I have been thinking about buying an extended warranty before the two year factory warranty expires in September.
I was coming to the same conclusion as the other replies on this thread until I came to yours!
Would you mind sharing some details on the issues that you faced that resulted in your using your extended warranty please?
We may have the same.
Many thanks,

We only acquired the extended warranties on the furnace, stove, furnace and air conditioner that were offered by the manufacturer in your new owner kit. They were relatively inexpensive.

Had a hinge failure for the lid of the stove in the 2014 Classic. The local dealership was so inept, I never did get a replacement part. I got a small stainless steel screw with a nylok nut and the problem was fixed. I had to replace all the lenses in the factory installed fluorescent fixtures because they were fixtures designed for a flat surface but installed on a radius. I gave the dealer the old lenses and took the new ones home to sand them to fit the radius.

Extended warranties are great for the one in a thousand whose issue isn't excluded in all the extra fine print.

The extended warranty paid for itself during the seven years 100,000 mile coverage on the 2007 Mercedes ML320 CDI. Soon after the time/mileage elapsed, I have had two credit card melt down service experiences.
