Airstream Values
I am looking to purchase my first airstream and am confused about the sales prices that I see attached to what I have seen advertised. Do they really sell for so much more than the NADA value?

The price many ask for their Airstreams and what they sell for can be a vast chasm.
Take your time and shop around, get a feel for what these trailers sell for in your area. Sooner or later you will run into a seller that is serious about unloading their trailer.

For whatever reason, the NADA guide rarely has any resemblance to reality when it comes to Airstream trailers, especially for older trailers. Are you looking at vintage, or fairly new units?

The critical issue for some folks that want to finance their Airstream purchase is that the NADA book is what a loan officer looks at for price reference to determine the amount his bank is willing to loan on a generic Airstream.
One has to jump through a lot of documentation hoops reflecting restoration costs to bolster the higher loan value requested on older units.
Good luck in your search and welcome to the forums.

Here are some values..
The Wally Byam Creed
In the heart of these words is an entire life’s dream. To those of you who find in the promise of these words your promise, I bequeath this creed...my dream belongs to you. - Wally Byam
To place the great wide world at your doorstep for you who yearn to travel with all the comforts of home.
To provide a more satisfying, meaningful way to travel that offers complete travel independence, wherever and whenever you choose to go or stay.
To keep alive and make real an enduring promise of high adventure and faraway lands…of rediscovering old places and new interests.
To open a whole new world of experiences…new dimension in enjoyment where travel adventure and good fellowship are your constant companions.
To encourage clubs and rallies that provide an endless source of friendships, travel fun, and personal expressions.

this might be a very novice question, but how can you find out what they sold for?

The only "sure" way of finding actual sales prices that I know of is to go to Ebay and do an "advanced" search, showing completed listings. This will show you what people are actually paying for trailers.

In my somewhat limited experience, it's tough to find out what they actually sold for. The exception is Ebay, which keeps some history of sales.
EDIT - I see I was a few seconds too late!

Beware of NADA! I have a 1982 Mercedes 380 SL. Average value NADA $13,000-$14,500. I contacted them for an explaination and I was told a lot of factors determine the valve,? Duh? Why are they selling for $4,500- $5,500? Did you know that the states that tax you on personal property base their assessed value on the NADA figures! YIKES!

Any way to determine the approximate dealer cost on a new Flying Cloud 25 FB? I want to make an offer slightly over invoice. Thanks
