75 Ambassador - Reno or Parts.....

Odd situation - over two years ago I met a postal worker and the conversation ended up on Airstreams - her father had one. He has since passed and she kept my card all that time. I went out to see the trailer today. She was hoping that I or someone here would be interested.... afraid to put it on Craigslist or Ebay and have it end up a deer camp. Apparently he loved this trailer and had it for years - he kept trying to repair it until he passed at 84 years old.

I can post some photos but, before I take up the server space, it's rough. The interior is partially gutted. It's a mid bath rear twin (or was). The beds are out of it and the bath partially gutted. The floor in the rear is rotted out about 6 inches in and the front floor, below the window has been wet. The A/C looks newer but I couldn't test it. The univolt, fridge and water heater are gone. The galley area is OK as is the range. The windows are good but heavily caulked. Skin had a couple small dents - the wraps will need replaced. Probably a total gut and build it out your way.

He also had an Airstream frame in reasonably good condition - it's bare and rusty but not bad. Interesting it came from what looks to be a 31 footer with two doors. The steps are still there.

Any interest gang... I'm just trying to help the lady out....

If it has one of these guage sets, I'd love to have it, along with the plastic part they both fit into.

Strange that the 31' frame has two doors. Can you tell how old it is?

I'd say it was 60's - the only way I could try to ID it was the coupler shape.? That clock part was still in the Ambassador. If my workshop was built I'd probably buy it myself and part it out to the needy....

Thanks, Chris, but I want the original ones, plus the plastic facia around them both. I can't imagine how they disappeared, but the PO was a kind of "all thumbs" guy, so who knows. I know I'll find them some day...

Gary,

Do you think she'd be willing to sell it? I'd love to get my hands on that assembly...

Aage - for now I think she wants to sell the entire trailer. I mentioned parting it out to her and she didn't seem enthused about that task. Here's a pic of that assembly. You can see some of the condition - the rotted drapes, etc.

Hey, Chris!

Thanks for looking for me, that's a nice looking clock. But I need more than that. I figure the only way to show it is to put up a pic of that ugly little part of my trayla.

OK, mine is on the left. So now you can see the beige plastic facia which the clock and barometer push into (friction fit). Notice that the PO, for some Crazy reason, cut the d*amn facia out, and screwed in a piece of translucent plastic from some kitchen saver, through which he mounted the guages! grrr...

Click on the left photo to make it bigger; you'll see the amateur cut job he did.

So, I don't just need the clock & barometer, but I need that facia, too. The actual clock and barometer in there now don't really bother me, but they don't work.

ps: Ganglin, sorry for hijacking your post. If your friend ever wants to sell that piece, PM me and we can talk price.

Ganglin- Sound just like the one I have. It actually is to close for comfort, I got a shiver just reading your description. Must be the year?

Good luck I hope you guys find it a good home.
