69 Safari totaled need help with Overlander specifics.

Hi.. guys.. and gals.

So, now that ive lost my 69 Safari, Im on the hunt for my next Airstream.. Im planning on going full time in it.. Well part time, winters I want to be south. Just my dog and I. My insurance check should come next week. As luck would have it, while peddling my bike around in my little town... I found this. A 1971 Overlander International.

I know, every thing is on this site, if I keep searching. Ive been on here for hours.. See if you can make it thru this long post and offer a little feedback.

Im pretty mechanically savy.. But Im looking for some Overlander Gurus out there that can tell me specifics about this year, options, etc. It appears to be a low use trailer. The owner is tough to get ahold of, but his brother has been helpful in showing.. He doesn't know much about it though. I did actually speak to the owner today.. He said they haven't used it in a few years, but what he remembered was. The furnace pilot wont stay lit, the shell around the a/c is broken, and the fridge was questionable. He said the plumbing (incl hot) all worked and was winterized before they put it to bed last.

Heres what I do know.

The floor look solid everywhere I can access.. Really clean wood. pulled up some old carpet in various places to verify. Current owner did the checker floor (dont care for it, I liked the cork in my Safari).

All cabinets and interior pieces are present and in very good condition. Some of the roller things (what ya call this style) need a little finesse to make em work. Oven is missing.

Exterior is pretty sweet.. belly is nice too. Pic of most significant dent.
only one other small dent present.

Windows are all in great shape and are "ppg" tempered glass, double pane in the front.

Awning mount points are getting scary looking. looks like it is self destructing. No damage yet, I think I would take it off. Canopy sun cooked on top. no other awnings.

Tires are new last year (4) and owner said axels and brakes were inspected and said to be good.. Im not sure how you can tell by looking?

Here are a few specific questions pertaining to this model.

It doesn't have the long horizontal windows up high! This is.. may be a deal breaker. I love those. Was this an option?

Is there anything known to be troublesome on the 71 model?

Ive read about rear bath problems.. Mostly on 31' models. I dont think there is a issue with this one.

I plan to take it to a RV specialist to get it looked over and check all systems. Is there something I should specifically request is looked at?

Price? right now its at $4500..

Thanks everyone!!
Jason

You might drive a long way to buy a worse one for the same money.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.
