VIN Help
I just purchased a 19ft Globetrotter and I am not sure of the year. The title says 1952 but I know it is newer. It has the 7 panel ends. The VIN is 19TS 6202 S2015. Can anyone help me. I went to the Airstream site and they only go back to 1968. Is this a Calif, trailer? Can anyone direct me to a site where this type of info is posted. Thank you Brad

sounds like a California 1962. The "6202" doesn't quite "fit" the description on this web site:
http://www.vintageairstream.com/archives/index.html
Note: In 63 it says sometimes there was only one "S" . . . got pictures?

Brad,
RJ Dial's site: http://www.vintageairstream.com/archives/index.html has information on the serial numbering in this picture matrix.
A quick review reveals to me that this number does not match his information. Hopefully Fred Coldwell will chime in with his wealth of knowledge.

The GT wasn't a 19' until 1961, and only kept that length until '64. The seven panel ends say newer than '52 also, so I'd bet on a '62. However that serial # doesn't seem to fit the standard for that year. Is the model name horizontal, or at a slight angle? Angled would be California. The serial # is close to the California format. Is it 19TSS2015 with the 6202 slightly below? That would fit with it being a '62.
Pictures?

I see from your profile that you've probably already figured it out, as you list it as a '62
19TSS2015 fits within the parameters of a '62 GT
I believe the 6202 portion of the VIN refers to:
62 = year
02 = month
Fred chime in if I'm wrong.

Thanks for all the help. I think it is a 1962, The VIN is stamped like this,
The 19TS is first the slightly under it in the center is 6202 then the S2015.
19TS S2015
6202
This unit is in great shape with NO road rash or dents. The interior is original and in good restoreable condition and all the appliances work. Thanks again

Yes the model name plate is at a slight angle and the 6202 is 1/2 a line under the reat of the number. I will try to clean it up and take a picture in the daylight.

GreatPumpkin:
No chime. I was outdoors earlier this evening staining some great old beach chair frames I found in my alley. My 1920's Denver neighborhood has alleys that run up the center of each block, adjacent to everyone's back yard. Alleys are where utility poles are located, where back yard garages have their doors, and where garbage is put out and collected once a week. Neighbors who wish to "recycle" stuff just put it in the alley, and if you beat the pickers these treasures can be yours. I scored bigtime last week with two old 1940s beach chairs complete with faded stripe canvas sling seats.
Anyways, outdoor staining brought on a very welcome rain and cooler temperatures tonight, so it looks like I'm going to have to find many more things to stain this summer.

I found an old nameplate on the side of this trailer that said "Ken Atwells trailer sales Denver Colo. " Does anyone remember this dealer? Brad

Looks like a California made 1960 Tradewind with twin beds to me.
How's this?

Shari, you are correct. After doing some research I came to the same conclusion. This particular trailer has the bunk beds. I don't think I like the look of the bunk bed windows. I am starting to know a bit more what I like in a trailer.
