Our insurance company for some reason does not list our AS coverage on the proof of insurance card that we keep in the TV.

So I have done this: made a copy of the policy and carry it in the AS with our manuals and other paperwork.

Your Airstream is financed so the PROPERTY DAMAGE coverage element is required by the lender.

So yes, there is two elements to coverage. Liability is one, Property Damage is the other.
A towed trailer has no liability of its own, save it having some malfunction which might result in destruction of someone's property while it was not being towed.
While being towed, the tow vehicle has the liability for the movement.
Carrying an Umbrella Liability policy for coverage not provided in other policies is recommended.

In Texas your state-mandated liability *IS* carried by your tow vehicle. Your liability coverage applies only to damage you to do others' persons or property. So, if you have an at-fault collision while towing, the policy that would pay for damage caused to someone else's property would be your tow vehicle's liability coverage, even if it was your trailer that actually struck their property. Your financed trailer probably carries comprehensive coverage that would pay it off if damaged, whether by you or by another party that didn't have liability insurance.

I have a comprehensive policy even on my paid-off vintage trailer, 1) because the thing has wheels and is therefore too easy to make off with, and 2) because one of the times I've been hit in the past was by someone with a fake insurance card, so he not only got away without paying for the extensive damage to my car, he wasn't cited for not having insurance!

It's the same for mine... I wasn't clear. While they print up a card on the same "Texas Liability Insurance Card" form that my vehicle cards are printed on, it's a separate card that lists only the trailer and under "Coverages" specifies "No Liability Coverage." I was also surprised when I went to pay the blood money...er.. sales tax and title fees when I bought the Argosy that they didn't want to see my liability card for the truck, I thought they might since they want that for renewing the vehicle tags and such.

I wonder why they would ask for proof of insurance anyway since you only have in for repair/servicing. My shop doesn't.

All done, brand new inspection sticker on my trailer. They did have to repair one of the brakes though, so taking it in was a good thing.
