Title Date Different From Mfg Date

Bought what we thought was a 1990 34 ft Excella in January -at least that is the date on the title. That said the date on the manufacturers tag is 1988.

Has anyone seen this or know why the discrepancy?

Thanks
Jane

I've seen it in MH's, but not a TT. The manufacture date was for the chassis. The model year date was for the MH itself as a unit.

Depending on which state it was originally titled in may have bearing on it. In some states they did not issue trailer titles until they were sold, meaning if the unit sat on a dealers lot for a year or two the title could be off by a year or more. Some states used not to even title trailers, bill of sale only.

Yep VIN #s match on title & mfg tag.

Aaron - you must be right. It just seemed odd there was a 2 year difference.

I've seen something similar when a vehicle is totaled. The newer model year is when the "rebuilt" title was issued.

I seem to recall this on a 1974 Tradewind that passed through my hands several years ago. It had a build date of late 1973 and was titled as a 1975. I believe it had originally been sold in SC, it had an NC title when I purchased it. No clue where it is now.

Of course now my husband & I are wondering what the differences are between this the early 90's models.

This one is in super shape though. It needed tires & now hubby is changing brake drums & fixing the electrical brake before we take a trip to DC. Interior is great. He did change The rear twins to a king 14 inch memory foam bed which is very comfy.

Not a lot of difference. What is the actual build date? It should be on the tag on the lower left corner. I am wondering if it is actually a 1989 model.

It was made in 1988 based on the tag

Late 88 would make it an 89 model in most instances. Could have been titled as a 90 depending on sell date in some states. Jim
