Texas Title

I do not have a title for my recently purchased 1968 26' International Overlander. If I am unable to track down any of the previous owners of my trailer and locate a title...does anybody have any suggestions on how to get a title for this trailer in Texas.
Thanks,
Dan

Broadway Title can supply you a registration from the state of Maine, unless you are in one of the bad states it`s $250.00.I had to go that way with my GT,my other way was petition the court { @ $350. application fee + extras].They did the whole thing very quickly. Dave

This what I did

I have done this with old Harleys, old cars and a 66 Airstream....all in Texas.

Get your Bill of Sale. Notarized if possible. (whatever good that is.)
Get a tracing of the data plate....I even provided a photo with the tracing.
Go to the local police or DPS. Have them run a check for the trailers status...ie. stolen. Get the printed results. They can do this on the spot if so inclined. (Having lived in Del Rio for a few years I don't expect that unless you know someone there.)
Go to the Tax Assesor/License Office and schedule a hearing, no big deal....it's a sit down and show the documentation. The Office can then give you documentation for you to present to the License Office....two windows down....where they should give you a new title in your name.
No cost other that sales Tax and lisence fee.
Having a current inspection and insurance proof helps too.
Good luck.

Here's another place to compare prices for you. www.its-titles.com

For what it's worth I've never done business with them but I'm sure they have been in business here for years.

Besides cars/boats they do do TT's.

Texas Title

I am looking at an Airstream purchased in Georgia(where no title is required for any trailer over 25 yrs.
The seller bought it and has the registration and a bill of sale.I caled the tax office in Dallas and they said get proof from Georgia no title is required and I can get it titled in Texas. The other thing possible was to post a surety bond.
Call the tax assessor in your Texas County.

I didn't have the title for mine, nor know where the PO was. I got with the tax/plate office and they gave me the paperwork for the PO to sign. I sent it via registered, then when it was returned they told me not to open it and return with the letter and title application. It went to the Tax Assessor who signed the paperwork.

They should be able to help you out.

Well since my web address was blocked, probably because of its name, if you Google Texas Auto Title, you will get the link.

I purchased my 63 Overlander from an owner in Georgia and it DID have a Georgia title. I'm not sure if it was necessary or not, but it had one, so I know it's possible.

I'd ask the seller to get a Georgia title for it, and then it will be much easier to get the title transferred to Texas.

Also, Georgia titles don't have the trailer weights on them, and Texas requires proof of trailer weight, so you'll need to get an official weight measurement from a certified scale, along with the Georgia title, to get a Texas title.

For registration, you'll also need to get the trailer inspected, most places that do car inspections can do trailer inspections but I'd call ahead to be sure. You need them to perform two different trailer inspections, one is the safety check (they basically just make sure all the lights work), and the other is a VIN verification.

Finally, for registration, you'll need proof of insurance. My tax assessor/collector didn't want the proof of insurance card, but rather the "Declarations Page" from my policy.

Good luck!
