Tag fee

I went and got our tag yesterday kinda a shocker $71.00. I thought it would have been cheaper it is 31 years old I guess they go by length. Just kinda curious how much yall's tags cost. Oh $5.00 of that went toward the re-title cost. For our state highway's to be in the shape they are in you would think with the cost of tags they would be as smooth as silk. My truck tags runs $300.00.

Ouch, $21 for the tag, $5 of that was for the title paperwork. Next year it will be less. Love that CARAVEL - they ROCK

In good old Pennsylvania, our trailer is $12.00 and our E-350 (that's a one ton, folks) Ford Van is $36.00 per year; a bargain since it is considered a station wagon.

Har. Here in the Motor State, a permanent trailer tag ran us (Trailers and Trailer Coaches-2,500-9,999 pounds) $200! And the fee on vehicles is related to value, and it is easily over $100 every year, per vehicle!

Yikes!! I quess I won't complain about our plates. $30.00 for the Globetrotter renewal and $78.00 for the full sized van to tow it.
There doesn't appear to be any consistancy what so ever state to state.
Tom.

That's not be such a bad deal if you keep it a long time.

Of course they can always change back to yearly fees anytime they want.

Tag for my TT was under $20 which included a $5 title fee. Over $400 for the TV. Arizona is a personal property state

Don't complain!

In Maine I just paid $241.88 for the Airstream! I'm told that's the lowest it'll ever go since it has reached the 5-year anniversary. Three years ago it was over $600.00! The tag for my 2003 dually was over $1,200 when it was new. Maine uses the full retail value to calculate the Excise tax - never mind what you paid for it. With respect to sales tax, I even had to cough up another $200 plus, almost two years after I bought the truck in New Hampshire, because I had not paid the tax on the "Rebate." Did I mention property taxes-----------------??? Did I mention State taxes on personal income resulting from capital gains on the sale of out-of-state property??? You sure have to love Maine to put up with it!

The grass is greener!?!?

Where is that saying that someone made famous (Erma Bombeck!?) about the ....

"If life is such a bowl of cherries, how come all I get, is the pits!?"

No sorry, how about, "the Grass is always greener in the other side of the fence...." No sorry, ...on the other side of the septic tank!?"

Seriously, the fees the we pay are really small potatoes compared to the benefits that we derive from our AS ownership, the fun, the fellowship....

Of course there are always other things that we can/ could spend those $'s on, but then, would you trade the AS for it??

Not me!

See ya out there!!!

Tag Fee

Greetings!

Here in Illinois, the annual registration fees are based upon the GVWR of the coach:
  • Travel Trailers:
    • 3,000 lbs. or less -- $18.00 (Recreational Trailer -- RT)
    • 3,001 - 8,000 lbs -- $30.00 (Recreational Trailer -- RT)
    • 8,001 - 10,000 lbs, -- $38.00 (Recreational Trailer -- RT)
    • 10,001 lbs or more -- $50.00 (Recreational Trailer -- RT)
  • Motorhomes:
    • 8,000 lbs or less -- $78.00 (Recreational Vehicle -- RV)
    • 8,001 - 10,000 lbs -- $90.00 (Recreational Vehicle -- RV)
    • 10,001 lbs. or more -- $102.00 (Recreational Vehicle -- RV)
There is also an additional fee of $7.00 for Personalized plates that include at least one number and up to six letters on most plates.

I keep hoping that Illinois will begin to recognized collectible travel trailers and motorhomes as they do now with antique vehicles (vehicles 25+ years of age maintained for hobby purposes). My "antique" cars are subject to Illinois registration of $30.00 and that is good for five (5) years -- there are significant limitations to use, but they aren't difficult to live with. I did notice that the Secretary of State's antique car show is offering special plates for both cars/trucks and trailers this year -- I don't know whether this is an indication that collector plates may be in the future for travel trailers or if it is just something for the annual show.

My K2500 Suburban is subject to regular annual registration of $78.00 ("B" Truck).

Kevin
