Question about Illinois title transfer...

While not exactly Airstream related, I have a question about the upcoming purchase of an enclosed trailer. I'm a Kansas resident and the trailer is currently tagged & licensed to Illinois, but is located in Hot Springs,Arkansas. (Retired gentleman who earlier this year relocated there)
Anyways, does anyone know if Illinois title's require a notarized signature? I know some states do & some don't, but being as I'm picking up the trailer on a Sunday, I might need to do a little research finding a notary in that area.
Figured maybe I'd ask here and chance finding someone "in the know". Thanks for any info....

I don't know the answer to your question but unless you've made arrangements in advance you may not find a notary on a Sunday.

Not sure exactly what youre asking but; ive lived here in central IL all my life and never needed a notary for a title transfer. Seller signs off on the correct line of title and thats it. Read the title carefully as to who signs what where. It can be a little confusing and small print but its all right there on the title.

Thanks. Years back( for the life of me, I cannot remember what I was buying or where I was! ) I recall having to have a notary witness both signatures. I also recall it was quite a hassle finding one on a week end.

No problem, glad to be of some help. In Illinois, i think the only time a notary gets involved is when there is something non-routine. Like a lost title or something like that.

I agree about notary of title not needed in Il. as I pur. my 1st motorized vehicle in 1950 last 2011, some I titled as home built I will not elaborate here why. I can not remember all [so many] never had notary for titles, so in my opinion but I'm not a lawyer. I don't think you need notarized.

Best way to be sure is to call your home state DMV 1st & make sure you get what they need it'll save you a lot of headache later . then call the sellers state DMV.
