Talking vintage license plates

Here in Florida, we can put an old, genuine Florida license plate on our vintage trailer, providing the license plate is the same year as the trailer.
I had one for our Argosy, a 1972 Florida license for a travel trailer.
# was 32MH-2004.
I am searching for a 1963 tag for a 4000 pound travel trailer, for Goliath.

Just for fun, I ordered a replica 1963 California plate for our GlobeTrotter, the year and location it was made. It is completely accurate, stamped in aluminum, and very nice. Not legal to display, I suppose - maybe we'll put it on the trailer, and keep the real one in the rear window or something... I dunno.

I was surprised that this was available, mine is SVRTWKY. It's also my avatar (see left). It's all registered and legit, the California DMV website is really fun to play with to see what you can come up with, they give you a visual of what your plate will look like:

New tag is on the way, if the State of Florida approves it:
4ww-2750
The way it works, is I send the plate to the state of Florida, they make sure it is a legitimate tag (not a reproduction) and if it is good, they issue registration for the trailer with that tag.Let's see if the photo reproduces here:

Hi Terry.

It looks great.I don't know if it matters to you or not but I am pretty sure the tag you posted is a vehicle plate(car) and not a trailer tag.To the best of my knowledge,Florida trailer plates of that era had the letters MH in the numbering system.

Rivet Florida Plates ...

streamer23,

The Florida plates actually had an 'MH' & 'RV' designation.

If interested, go here:

http://www.pl8.com/pl8man/codes/

The first number was the county in the state, numericaly in order of the highest population (lowest number).

Mike
Mike, that is correct, if it were an actual travel trailer tag with the correct weight class for our Overlander, it would read something like "42MH-xxxx". A 1963 auto tag in good shape is tough enough to find, locating a tag for a 1963 travel trailer, with the correct weight designation, would be like winning the state lottery, while being struck by lightning, during an earthquake.
I'll take what I can get, and if I find the correct one, I can change it then.
BTW, if you know how to read them, the car tags would tell you the same thing about the car, even down to the county it was registered. IIRC, the first two digits were the county and weight. I lived in Pinellas county for a very long time, so the "4" for Pinellas county is good for me. The "ww" for a vehicle over 4500 pounds is also good, even though it is a trailer, and not a car.

What you have looks great and thanks for the extra info.Maybe someday when you least expect it you will find the ONE.Good luck to you.

Pwrstrk 4 Hi Cmp

It would be no fun not to have vanity plates, as Silvertwinky wouldn't recognize me on the roads of the 'burbs otherwise.

Our Excursion is IL plate PWRSTRK (that's Powerstroke, people, not Powerstruck)... and Lucy wears the tag 4 HI CMP as trailer plats in IL must start with a number.

I'll take photos this weekend and mount them.

Tom, and Frank

n.b. I TOW AIR: someone in Wisconsin has that plate too... it's my favorite plate, I think.

Anybody out there have an old "Texas Trailer" plate from 1958? I would like to have it so I can register my Trailer with it, as Texas lets you do that. Of course I would pay for it as well as shiping charges. Thanx.
