Florida does not currently have a vehicle inspection program. We used to have statewide safety inspections. That was done away with about 30 years ago. Dade County had inspection prior to that which ended with the establishment of the statewide inspection.

I often wondered about being out of my state for a few months when my inspections is due, and the upon returning getting a ticket & fine before I can get the inspection done.
In Virginia we need the safety yearly and emissions every two years.
You can’t reregister your vehicle without a valid emission inspection.
I guess you get it done months or weeks prior to leaving.

You are required to make an appointment and stop at the first state inspection station upon returning to your home state. Anything other than that can net you a ticket. My parents got a ticket upon returning from a Florida vacation, and that is what the state police told them.

i call NY DMV and explained my situation. they told me that they could issue the renewal for me ($5.00 extra by phone). i order the renewal then and it came in the mail today.
if memory serves me correctly, on the web site you have to provide the inspection certificate number.
btw......one of the factors in needing a title for vehicles in NY, depends on the year of construcion of the vehicle. here, prior to 1973, i don't think NY had titles, you just signed over the registration.

I agree; vehicle inspection programs are a farse and a rip-off. They are propagated by theiving vendors who line the pockets of crooked politicians, and do little to insure saefty.
