They get you one way or another.

Boat = $20 every 3 years
AS = $58 per year
Vehicle = $102 per year

PROPERTY TAX = roughly 3.3% of actual market value (higher percentage when using "assessed value", but that is another smoke and mirror tactic)

Peoples republic of Virginia, they will allow permanent tags purchased from DMV when you first get your AS, I think it was $150, and you don't have to pay or worry about that every year. So that is nice, but that is where it ends.
State inspection for the AS every year , I think is $16.
Counties hit you with the personal property tax every year in Virginia, says it is based on NADA values. Now that is annoying, you pay $800 + - every year on the AS. Then you have to pay personal property on your truck ( which they said the value went up last year) and car and Jeep, and motorcycle, and enclosed motorcycle trailer. Every year. Then they hit you with a $20 county decal 'Fee' for each, and they don't even send you the decal anymore!
Its like $70 a year for state tags on the truck, $52 for the car and $52 Jeep each year. $26 for the motorcycle. Insurance, state inspection for each vehicle and motorcycle. Good lord !

If you own a home you have 'Real estate taxes' !
Virginia State sales tax is 5% on top all that

I can't see me retiring .
To many people with their hand out taxing and 'fee-ing' the crap out
of me !

Man, I have to go to work now !
have a good one.

Calling it sniveling, and infer her being unpatriotic? She paid her taxes, and is exercising her right to free speech and protest. Maybe if it were up to you we would still be an English colony. You know; happily pay your taxes without questioning if they are just.

For me, it's not about paying taxes. My father told me when I started working, at age 15 (OK, when that first "legal" paycheck was earned), "Thank God we live in a country where we have the privilege to pay taxes...and thank God we have the right to not pay one penny more than we need too."

That's patriotic, but somehow, between "crafty" legislation and waste, we are paying more than we need too. That is also patriotic. I guess the answer is to get involved when you can't stand it anymore.

Birth cert issued by a hospital is not a legal doc in some states. You need the paperwork where the birth was registered with the city or county. That's the way it is inFl to get a drivers license if they ask for it.

No, I got what THEY voted for. But to be truthful, there is not one fiscal conservative in the lot, and I am including the republicons as well as the democrats.

California politics is fun to watch from a safe distance. Unfortunately I'm standing on ground zero, and the bullseye is on my wallet.

And yeah, THEY voted these people in, over and over again. Thank God for decent weather and scenery so far.

Bashing my own state from an ASUS laptop, or I can get on my Android if you like. Feel better?

Amen!

The chorus.

Still beats a lot of other places I've lived.

Super glad I don't live still in Chicago--still remember the horrid winters from when I was just a kid. And the humidity and bugs on the east coast of Florida. I'll put up with the politicians for a while.
