My Tundra was $ 435 and the Tradewind was a mere $ 96 this year. This fees drop every year as they age.
But wait ! The folks in Sacramento are looking at ways to fund their "special" programs and have been robbing the DMV funds for years.
So the apropreations department is trying to create "fees" to pay for the highways and Highway Patrol because of the misappropriation of funds stolen from the DMV funds.
They want to raise the registration fee and are looking at an annual $ 35 road access fee for each vechical . They also want to eleminate the hybrid exception and charge them a $ 1000 fee.
All this without a ballot measure !
Hopefully our representives will prevent this from happening .
Good grief I've got 6 trailers and 5 cars and 4 pickup trucks !
It's bad enough that the DMV charges for commercial plates and a weight fee that is equal to or above the registration on my non commercial use pickups.
Talk about a windfall for the DMV on all the non commercial use pickups on the road.

Console yourself with the knowledge that California vehicle registration fees decline as the age of the vehicle increases reflecting depreciation.

What a difference 10 years will make! My tag in Tate County for the 2016 25'FC was a cool $1,800. I almost fell over...

Your registration fee is correct for CA. Mine was $535 for our 2015 International Serenity, 27'. Our tax dollars are at work making more potholes.

I also live in California. My 2015 FC was $565. My 2015 TV was $632. Don't know why I was surprised to receive notice. After all it is California.

Wow... my 2006 32' moho was $82. My 1995 19' moho was $65, and my 1996 boat was $35 for three years in Iowa! And I thought THAT was bad!

Many states like Arizona have a Personal Property Tax on cars, trucks and RVs. My new Tundra was over $400 for plates this year, but will drop every year. My 40+ year old Airstream is now $15 per year. The PPT part of the plates is a deduction at tax time.

All it takes is one good citizen to turn you in. That happened to me in WA state, not with a Airstream, but with my car. And I was only staying there for 8 months, but...
Or a traffic stop or fender bender. Stuff happens. Stay honest.

CA registration is Outrageous! My 2003 F150 4.6 V8 Triton King Cab cost me $176 to register this year.
Live half the year in TX. Registration is cheap. I'm a CA resident, but my boyfriend is a Texas resident. His mom lives there still and he uses her address, we spend time with her every summer.

CA DMV just charged me $404 for my 2015 FC23D. That's almost as much as my annual insurance premium.

We're paying just over $300 for our 2007 27FB. Other folks are correct in that it does decrease each year until such time Gov. Moonbeam shoves another "FEE" down our throats!
Good news?? We camp year around here in CA.

Every time I drive on the misery of California's broken Interstate Highways I lament that the Greatest Country in the History of the World choses not to keep its highways in good repair, and how popular it's become to object to paying taxes.

We're full-timers with SD as our domicile. Our Jeep and Foretravel are registered there, and renewal for both comes up in June. We recently got the notice - a couple of dollars over $500 for the two of them for a year. There is no State inspection, so you can register there by mail, or even have your SD mail forwarding service do it for you.

I realize that Californians really pony up a lot of tax money every year but, my gosh, look where you get to live! You can surf in the morning, ski in the afternoon, amazing State and National Parks. Hundreds of miles of breath-taking shoreline that you have had the great good sense to preserve rather than sell off for condo development. Some really amazing cities, equally amazing small towns. Desert, mountains, forests, seashore, lakeshore...
Granted, the highways need work, a lot of work. But, holy mackerel, look at where those highways will take you.
I live in South Florida. Once a paradise, now, not so much. Great winters, intolerable summers. Excellent highways, but way, way too crowded 24/7. Fresh water supplies starting to be stressed, development out of control, political corruption endemic.
It may just be a case of "the grass is always greener..." But I'd consider selling a major organ to live near Monterey, or San Diego, or Carmel etc. etc.

$535 registration fees in CA!
Yup. Lived in San Francisco, San Diego, then China Lake, Huntsville, AL, now back to SoCal to stay.
Won't leave again except for trips and travel as long as we get back home to the best weather on the planet, etc.
BTW, grew up in South Florida. Don't plan to ever go back to the humidity....and the bugs. Huntsville was more than enough of that!

Point taken. California is the remarkable, astonishing Golden State.
In 1954 when Dad moved our family from Dayton, Ohio to Santa Monica, California, he couldn't wait to take us on a one day Southern California tour, first out to the dry heat of the Mojave desert, then up to the snow of the Tehachapi Mts. finally ending the day at sunset over the Pacific at Malibu Beach.

Hi, in California, if you live or work there, you have 10 days to register your vehicles or pay a fine. I have seen cops driving through Douglas Aircraft parking lots and writing up all out of state plated vehicles. They also cruise on city blocks looking for out of state plates. And you could be turned in.
