1960 Pacer
I am looking at buying a 1960 Pacer. It looks to be just about 14' long and I haven't been able to find any that tiny. I can't measure it accurately because of all the junk piled around it. The serial # is SS 0372. What does that tell me, if anything?
Anybody know anything about this year and model?

The trailer has been sitting out in the weather for 30 years (In Colorado). Right now it is used as a storage for junk (!) and it is hard to see what everything looks like inside. The floor seems surprisingly solid, the potty is gone, the stovetop (Princess) is still there, there is no fridge but the sink is still there and what looks like the remains of the dinette benches - maybe the bed is there but I couldn't tell.
The exterior skin is in remarkable condition except for one section on the front streetside corner at the top. It has sort of a scrape/dent in it.
So, given all that I guess it is in somewhat "fair" condition. And would be a real challenge to restore - but that's the fun part.

Hi Chris -
It's always good to hear from you!
Lindy
P.S. Didn't you tell me you bought a 12V fan somewhere? I ran a line for one but wanted to find out what you got before I bought anything.

Hi Lindy,
Do you mean a 12V table top fan or a roof vent? If you mean a table top fan, we bought one a few years ago from Camping World: 12V Fans, Clip on Fans, Portable Fans, RV Ceiling Fans - Camping World. As I think about it, we bought all our roof vents with fans from Camping World too. We tend to buy them in the winter while they are on sale and then install them in the Spring.
The exact 12V fan we bought is no longer available. It was an O2 brand that runs on D cells, 12 VDC, or using an adapter to run on 110 VAC. They have a few other 12V fans to choose from. The metal one looks kinda vintage.

My brother has a very nice 1960 (I think) Pacer. He is more of a collector than a camper. Attached are some pictures.

I hope this helps you out. We think that the interior is original, but we don't really know. Seems strange that they would put a wood cabinet in the wet bath.

Dan,
Thanks for sharing your brother's pacer pics. Looks like it's in good shape on the inside. What is that Skyway Travelers Rest emblem? I was in Traveler's Rest last year and intend on moving to the area if Real Estate here in California ever picks up so I can sell.

Sold one several years ago that we restored. The 1960 Pacer 16' is 6" wider that the Bambi. Some photos here: 1960 Pacer 16' - Southern Antique
Hope you acquire your Pacer!
Best Regards,
Levon

Table top fan - that I could attach to the wall since we won't have a/c and we're going to Mississippi and Texas in May. I really like the vintage looking metal one and it looks like I can cut off the cigarette lighter plugger-inner and hard wire it into my 12V system.
Thanks for the link.

Lindy - after everything you've done so far, cutting off the cigarette lighter plugger-inner thingy (I love technical terms!) and hard wiring it in should be a piece of cake!

Yeah, well when you're a hot-shot airstream restorer like me you have to use the right terminology!

I have no idea what the Skyway Travelers Rest. SC is. Sorry, others may be able to answer this question.

Could be referring to this:
Travelers Rest is a city in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 4,099 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Greenville– Mauldin– Easley Metropolitan Statistical Area. "TR", as the city is known around the area, is just north of Greenville. The name "Travelers Rest" came from the fact that it is situated almost directly against the border with the North Carolina mountains. Travelers would stop for a moment in the town, before they began the difficult journey up into the mountains. Often, travelers would have to spend the winter there, waiting for the snow to clear in the mountains, before continuing northward.

I just bought a 1959 Flying Cloud with the same dealer emblem. It must have been a big Airstream dealer back in the day.
