Tedd, Carol says you should lay it down sideways on the ground and tell the village it is your dog's house! I think this is much ado about nothing. Maybe you could go to the local Home Depot to get 4 sections of 6' tall wooden fence and hide it from prying eyes for now, then next spring pull it out from it's little "fort" and use it to finish the repair on your Overlander. Once you set up the 4 sided "fort" you can wrap it up with a blue tarp to keep the rain and snow off it and it should winter just fine! Ed

Tedd
I put in a add yesterday looking for a rear compartment door for a 1968 Overlander that fell of my camper. A fellow member (Ed) send me a E-mail saying that you might have a door. If you do please E-Mail or call me John 218-726-1560.

67 rear access doors are shorter vertically than 64, 65, 66 and 68 doors.
I'm sorry, I do not have an extra door. You may want to check with Andy or with some of the RV salvage yards.
The only "extra" parts I have right now are the front segments.

Tedd, I'm sorry... I sent a couple of guys your way as I thought that you might have some extra parts that they could buy from you to help them with their projects. Guess I know better now! Sorry for the inconvenience. Ed

Ed, no problem. I have taken care of one of them. I do not mind it via PM's and email, I just want to keep it off the forum. Keep on sending them. I might not have the part, but I might be able to find it.

Thanks Tedd. I will do so if I see another one around that is in need. How is the repair going? Have you finished all the interior mods you were working on? Were you able to satisfy the neighbors and the municipal folks that found issue with your part storing? Ed

Nothing has been happening with the trainler as of now. I have been thinking long and hard (did anyone smell the smoke?) about how I am going to splice the new shell section in. The shell section is in my shed for now. I may wind up with a zig zag seam when it is done. Right now life is in the way and with the cold weather I have not really done anything, but think and plan my moves for the spring and summer. I want to camp as much as possible, so that is why I do not want to take the Airstream off line for too long.

A few months ago I was at the AS factory and their repair dept. was working on an even larger trailer where a tree had dropped on it diagonally, just about from end to end. They were saving everything that could be saved and seemed to have the rest of the parts and aluminum available. Someone said it would be about $10,000 minimum for the fix. The good news for that owner was that it was insured, but that doesn't help you. But it does point out that should you think it worth it, it could be repaired. The one at the factory was in much worse condition than the one in your pictures. Maybe we need an AS wrecking yard somewhere where we could by sections of a trailer like a car junk yard. Maybe at the factory?
I have the parts, jut need the time. The other factor is that I am on the low end, way low end of the income pool and funding is always an issue. I wish I could take it to the factory (with my parts) and have them do the repair. It would most likely take them a week or two and be better quality than what I can pull off. Maybe if I hit the lotto or something...

Tedd, Or should I say Dr. Frankenstream! We have seen you great ability just by the dismantling of the donor trailer. I for one have faith the you will succeed and make the repairs that will have your trailer looking good and functioning like new. Don't forget the zipper stitches and the neck bolts. Ed
P.S. Maybe we could have an "Old fashioned barn raisin" event! Or "Rebuild the Trailer Rally" and get lots of good folks to donate their time and expertise.

I have sent a email off to Jackson Center for some input on my plans. Should be interesting to see what, if anything, comes back. I will keep you posted via this thread.
