The camping trip went well. I found out that 39 year old plastic is not flexible. I had a mystery leak in the gally. After we got to the campground it was a real pain to have a wet spot in the middle of the trailer. Well after looking around I noticed that the street side gally partition base was wet too. After looking a llitle closer I saw a large wood piece tucked in the corner. Popped out the three screws and there was the condinsate drain. The plastic was like uncooked pasta. It would snap with very little pressure. So a run to Farm & Fleet and the drain was back in business!!

I have built a bunk for my daughter on the street side. (Pictures later).

Tonight I dropped off one set of drapes at the dry cleaners. I figure I have a 50/50 chance of getting drapes back. Otherwise I expect a bag of shredded fabric. If it the cleaning works out I will do the rest of them.

I am now getting ready to build a "L" shape goucho in the front, like the 25/28 foot International's have currently. I have a fold out table for a mid 70's trailer that is larger than the original that I will use (I sold off the other one. ) I will try and get a picture or two up of all of this stuff for every one to see. I have two weeks to get the goucho built! So off to work....

OK, so I have Aluminum ADD in a bad way. The wife and I talked the whole thing in a big circle. Rebuild a original style goucho now. I ordered slides form Vintage Trailer Supply. WOW are they nice!!! I am using the plans from Vintage Airstream recources.

I had to start with modifying the table/shelf on the curb side to accomidate the larger table. It is going better than I expected. I had to move the back section 4 inches back for the larger table to be able to slide all the way in in storage position. I know y'all want to see photo's. Sorry, but work is taking presadent over photos.

Rat Stream

In the world of motorcycles that would be called a "Rat" which takes a person of unusually strong self-assurance to operate it. This person will rub the noses of prejudicial observers in the black water tanks of this world at will. I like your Airstream!! I am waiting for the First Annual Rat Rally!

Frankenlander

Tedd, It looks worse in the photos than it did in real life. I can really see it coming together now. Once the donated parts from the Ambassador are spliced in it won't even be noticable... (except for the stitches and the two electrodes near the tongue)! LOL! "IT'S ALIVE..." Ed

Well Ed I can not for the life of me remember or find who told me about the light repair.
It goes something like this....
Dis-assamble the light to be repaired.
In the head (light part) drill a small hole all the way through the middle of the ball end.
Take a small diameter tension spring (the type with the coils tight together) that is about 3/4 the length of the stem of the light. Insert a small steel rod into the hole you drilled going through one end of the spring.
Using a piece of string or wire insert the spring into the stem. Pull the spring out the other end and insert another steel rod. A little epoxy at this point will keep the rod in place.

Make sure that the spring diameter is small enough to let the wires have some room to move. I hope to document this repair this winter.

Progress on the Overlander has slowed now that the goucho is finished. I am having problems getting the propain lamp to work though. I have tried a couple of different mantals, with no luck. Am I missing something here??

I Well as of last Saturday the Ambassador is no more. I removed the last of the shell and the propane lines. It is now a utility trailer. Frame has to be stiffened a little but will serve.

I have been having more isssues with the village thanks to "complants" they are getting about the 10 foot of shell on my back patio. Some people seem to have not taste!! I may just take the rear section and mount it back end first on the now utility trailer to "close it in". Hope it will fly for now. I have a month to make the section "go away". We will see.

We have been camping a couple of times with the Overlander and every thing is working (except the porpane light). I have one more trip planned and then winterize and bed down for the winter.

"When life gives you lemons... make lemonade"

Tedd, Have Lovely Lori bake up a bunch of holiday decorated cupcakes and delivery a half dozen to each of your neighbors with a note that you are sorry that they don't have a hobby and if they would like they are welcomed to go camping with you anytime! If that doesn't work, set the endcap up near the street and say it is your kids lemonade stand!!!!! Ed
