On October 25 at 10:45 PM a fire in the storage area at the CG we keep our A/S, destroyed our 25" 72 Land Yacht. The fire is under investagation as arson. It started in a motorhome and burned up 7 units. We spent two years getting the "Yot" road worthy. The insurance claim will take some time to clear up. I didn't grab the book when we winterized the Yot so we lost all of the repair records plus the bill of sale and title. I have replaced some of the work bills and sent for the title. We can only hope the adjuster is willing to work with us.
Now, we are always looking at trailer want ads. We have replaced the old with a 1968 28' Land Yacht International. WOW, what a difference. We bought it from a minster and his family. They owned it 17 years. It's all hard wood cabnets. They had replaced all major items, furnace, water heater and AC. They put in the largest fridge they could. It was so well cared for. It has history. Their 17 yr old daughter lerned to walk in that trailer. She is taking the sale hard. But I promised we'ed take care and keep in touch. We have some cometic word to do inside and out. Couple bumps, new tanks would be nice. Oh, the kitchen floor is parquetry. The stove is three burners in a row as a cook island. The oven is seperate. They added a Microwave. They also painted the Harvest Gold everything, white. Were thinking about grass cloth. What fun.
Now I can't wait for spring. Pictures will be printed soon.

Sue what grim and sad news, yet sounds hopefully upbeat for the future. Here's wishin' yall smooth sailin' from here-on-out.
I can not help but be curious about what was left after such a fire.If it would not be too painful, and if there are any pix of the aftermath, I think that they might be of value and interest to many of us. I have to assume the adjusters took many shots, if yall did not.
It would also be very informative IMHO to be kept abreast of how the Insurance people treat this loss. If it would not be too intrusive.
Thank you for your reply. Yes wonderful things happen like that. We will miss the old A/S, but we look at it as the starter. We lerned much in the two years we had it. I haven't found a name for the Intl. yet. But when we get to know her one will pop up.
Happy Holidays

The Koa had an outdoor storage area. I'm sure the loss would have been much worst if it was in the indoor storage area.
The first year we had the "Yot" we put it indoors. But it cost much more.
This is the first time I have reported such a loss to our insurance company. I will keep updating.
It's true papers should be kept elseware. I will follow that advise from now on.
Thanks

Here's an update. So far the police have not issued a report in this on going investagation. I am still waiting for the title to be replaced by the state of Illinois. They are a might slow. I have filed an incompleat claim to our insurance company. I knwe this would take several months to clear up.
So the new trailer is parked at the same campground, but not in the storage area. Like I may have said, this was the first time our CG has had any fire. I don't worry that any think this would happen again.
I will put up some pictures very soon.
Happy new year to All.

Our insurance company is Farmers Insurance. I know they have a good rep, but this is the first time we have ever made a claim.
I do have pictures of the old A/S and the new A/s, but the pictures of the fire damage did not come out, it was snowing and too dark. I didn't have my good camera.
We have had trouble with our ATTbroadband, I can only get on line at 6 AM. I need help posting pictures. We are switching to DSL this week and maybe I can get on line at regural hours and my son to help me post the pictures.
More to come.
