Wow, this is an OLD thread! Can you believe 4 years have passed since they warned us about that, and my trailer still hasn't been nuked?
And I've changed to Progressive to get 'agreed value' insurance, because the only thing State Farm would 'agree' to is that if anything happened they probably weren't going to cover anything
my progressive agent told me they only offered agreed value on units up to 10 years old. maybe i need a new agent? any ideas as to what i should do to correct this?

Guess its time you get a new agent or make him read Progressive's own website. I had agreed value insurance with Progressive. I got an estimate of value from an Airstream dealer that my trailer was worth $17,000 in its pristine condition. I then got into a hail storm last summer on the road and did almost that much in damages to the unit. Without the agreed value policy, my trailer would have been totaled and I likely would not have received but a few thousand dollars for an '82 Limited no matter what its condition. As it was Progressive did not flinch, they paid the full amount of the claim allowing me to have the trailer repaired. When I did my research, Progressive was the ONLY insurance company with the ability and desire to fully insure older trailers for amounts much greater than the average book value of those trailers. In the case of Vintage trailers, they aren't even in the book.
Prior to this I had confidently kept a policy with Foremost thinking I was covered. It was here on this forum that a member proved to me that I was wrong. They may have allowed me to "claim" what my trailer was worth, but in the case of an accident it would have been next to worthless what my trailer was stated as "valued" on the policy. I did not have documented value by having an estimate of value on file and the wording of my policy was not what it needed to be to cover me in case of an incident such as I ended up experiencing. I had a "stated value" policy; not an "agreed value" policy. Thanks to this forum I listened and learned. Listening saved my trailer and my bank account.

Getting insurance for my newly acquired trailer is on my list of things to do this week, thanks for the advice, it is quite timely.
Insurance company exclusions are no joke. The list of non covered events grows and grows. I have to buy separate home flood, hurricane, and mold/mildew coverage. They operate on about the same respect scale as casinos.
What they are telling the OP is that his trailer is not covered for a terrorist attack.

Progressive had no problem with the age of my unit. I just called the 1-800 number and they passed me to a local agent. I have to get an appraisal done on it to seal the deal, which I hope to do this week. I've already located a local 'personal property' appraiser, that's one that does items, as opposed to real estate and houses, and talked to him and he has no problem appraising it at around $15k, which I think is a fair price for a fully functional and updated Caravel. It's about what I have into it!
I feel like the insurance is just there so that if something terrible happens and it is completely destroyed, I don't have to start over from scratch. I couldn't get State Farm to agree to anything except 'we'll figure out the value when you make a claim'. Well if it catches fire and all we have is a pile of ashes, how will I prove to you what condition it was in? They didn't even want an appraisal or pictures to keep on file or anything! Plus they were charging something like $20 a year, which tells me they see no value in the item, and will put up a big fight if it's time to pay out. Progressive is charging about $200 a year, which seems like a fair amount for what I am expecting them to pay out. And then we can go on about our business enjoying our trailer and hope we'll never have to use the insurance!
