Don't know...

I was just checking on it too and it's no longer there...

????

Probably giving it way too much thought, just don't want some one getting ripped off because they don't have a computer to do the research (really there are people without computers!) That is the only type of person I would think would buy it.

If they are on ebay or look on the seller's website, they probably have a computer. Maybe they don't know how to find the Forum, or they are blinded by the "good deal".

Right...

I was just thinking of the little couple driving by getting ready to retire and thinking - hey, we can clean this up and it's a deal.

But, the chances of that happening are pretty slim too.

Who knows...

Actually that's a pretty good possibility, or the person who can't resist a "good deal" and doesn't check it out. We see a lot of them posting on the Forum after they bought a used or vintage Airstream without knowing about floor replacement, frame separation and all the other things that may need to be done. How many of us would have known just what would have to be done with these trailers?—you don't have to be a fool to buy one (though it does help).

Even though they are sold without a warranty, there may be legal recourse based on misrepresentation, consumer protection laws or even the use of the doctrine of promissory estoppel (I love that name and the law on that can help). Fraud is too hard to prove in something like this. This is not all that easy, but a good lawyer may be able to get someone some recompense.

I wonder where the other five trailers are?

Thanks Gene,
I googled that, and now I have learned my one thing for the day.
Good thing, because it's getting late.

Ken

I don't need to be. My daughter is, so I get my counsel as payment toward what I spent putting her through school.
Have a good night,

I'm not a lawyer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

"Promissory Estoppel: The principle that an estoppel (waiver of a right, in this case to argue that no warranty exists) may arise from the making of a promise, even though without consideration, if it was intended that the promise should be relied upon and in fact it was relied upon, and if a refusal to enforce it would be virtually to sanction the perpetuation of fraud or would result in other injustice."

Good argument in this case.

This is a trailer from Georgia. The water was 3 feet in the trailer and the damage was light. We put this on on ebay to see if anyone would like to buy it for a reduced price and do the cleanup their self.
Would you like to buy it?

According to the math, he paid around $10K for the unit... probably less ($8K-ish), actually as it's not a CCD, and (in my opinion from having walked through them all), one of the absolute worst ones (due in part to the upholstered dinette).

FYI, water was more than half way up the front windows on all the units. You could still see the water line.

I know everyone needs to make money, but c'mon! If they dumped it for $12K, I would have more respect... AND in light of all that's needed, seems a much fairer price.

I wonder what happened to the longer CCD? That one was the best in my opinion.

Most esteemed friend, I have inherited 3 Airstream trailers with slight water damage. I will give you one of the trailers if you will deposit $25,000 in my bank account so I may get the others. The money is to help me get an export license and when the other two trailers arrive in Nigeria, I will refund your money and add another $25,000. This will be of great help to me as my late husband, a Nigerian prince, always loved Airstreams. Thank you for your help and I have some other deals for you when you have completed this one.

Does anyone know how to get my hands on one of the Woodstock flooded AS. I went shopping for one up there before the flood and just called another Camping World and found out about the situation.

Welcome trm1868!

Welcome to the forums trm1868, If you read the thread it looks like a company out of Utah purchased the trailers and has been trying to sell them on e-bay.

Maybe someone else out there has some current info on this.

You guys saved my bacon...

Whoa,, thank you Airstream Knowledge Forum for saving a possible horrifying purchase experience. This guy and dealership is advertising on a local bulletin board for the dunked Airstream. My wife and I are retired and it looked like a killer deal. Unbelievable that they have not been issued Salvage titles.. Buyer be ware....
