I'd be interested in looking at one of these guys. I have a family member that is going through Georgia in a few weeks and might be able to stop by and inspect + take pictures.

It seems in my excitement I didn't see the closing date on the trailers. eeesh. Should still work out but might not be able to get the person out there to check.

Here's a few I've already taken....Note the flood line / debris in the fences.

Well I am back from my trip to Woodstock and checking out the airstreams. I just walked in the door and wanted to give a quick overview of the trailers. They were anywhere from 50% to 65% full of water. I spoke to one person who said the water receded in about 12 to 14 hours. I am going to post some pic of the damage sometime today. But for right now I am just going to enjoy NOT being in my truck.

Lot and vin numbers so that even if AS'er's dont get these and a dealer does you can always go back to check and make sure your not getting scammed if someone is trying to resell this as used.

Outside/ Random. The shells on these guys are perfect, no debris damage or collisions between trailers.

Youre getting a perfect trailer, skin, frame, axle, towability at an extreme price in both materials and work.

If you plan on getting one of these, it's going to be a full commitment, these have to be gutted out down to the exterior skin and cleaned/ sanitized while wearing proper protection. Masks/ suits are a must to prevent the possibility of breathing mold or virus/bacteria from the silt deposited on the surfaces and water remaining in the trailers.

From looking at the pictures, nothing has changed from my standpoint. These trailers shouldn't be worth more than 1000$ each but that is even stretching it greatly. There is going to be a lot of work involved in making these trailers safe and usable again, and even if parting out proper care would have to be taken.

EDIT:LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR< THIS IS FROM MY PERSPECTIVE OF THE PICTURES ONLY AND NOT FROM SEEING THE TRAILERS PERSONALLY. THE PEOPLE THAT TOOK THESE PICTURES ARE NOT EXPERTS OR INSPECTORS

SECONDARY EDIT:there is no "safe" bid, these trailers are not safe in their current state.

thanks for posting pics corwin...

a wipe down with a couple of mr clean, magic erasers followed by a squirt or 2 of fabreze...

and these babies are ready to go!

the photo in post #28 with the sink HOLDING water (my drain plug never works THAT good) is priceless!

did anyone OPEN a black tank/aux tank valve, and see what swims out?

from the pix i don't see ANY alcoa/aluminum CORROSION on these units...

so maybe a 'safe bid' is higher than the price of crusty NEW units.

in fact, maybe the cure for corrosion is to DIP all new trailers in georgia flood water...

hey it could be piped into the shower/leak test booth AT the factory to replace the METALLIC ohio river water currently being used.

one other PLUS to these units...

most of the OEM construction debris left inside is gone...

The trailers also had a very strong "pepper" smell. It wasn't a putrid smell, but it wasn't pleasant either.

The mold that growing in these trailers may be toxic. When cleaning out these trailers, if we get them, I suggest breathing protection be worn

I think these are being sold as a lot because no one of them is worth enough to sell individually.

2nd, trying to put together a group in such a short time is risky. You need to get letters of credit or other solid assurances from each person in this joint venture (like a partnership, but only for one purpose and not for profit) so you won't be stuck with 2 or more trailers when someone decides they don't want this. You might be stuck with a bunch of trailers that the local health dep't wants cleaned up today.

These are only good for some parts. It costs a lot to take them apart and cost of disposing of such much ruined stuff will be expensive. Bearings need to be repacked to tow them, so they probably have to be trucked somewhere. This is a money losing proposition unless 8 people who live really close and want to restore them can get it together and all show up for the bidding. Even then when counting labor, it sounds like a risky investment, but some few could possibly pull it off. I wouldn't go near it.

The seller or their agent is claiming the water only went as high as the wheels, but it sure looks like it was a lot higher. These are not people I would want to deal with.

The problem is that the trailers are worth more than that to a salvage yard which will pull them apart for their windows and exterior panels and other hard parts that were not destroyed by the floodwaters. They are probably worth more than $1000 to a salvage yard, because they can make some money off of parting them out, while they are worth less to someone who is looking at the haz-mat job of cleaning and refurbishing them. I think you'd be better off buying a couple year old unit that hadn't been flooded than the work it will take to fix these filthy trailers up. Yuk!
