Black Tank Flooded Trailer

Has anyone had any experience dealing with an insurance company after trailer was flooded with black water? My position is that the trailer (2001 34' slide) should be totaled because of the bacteria under the belly, cabinets etc.

John. If your Airstream was worth a few thousand then insurance companies would probably agree with you.
However, your trailer can be repaired properly, by a few dealers, as well as the factory. It won't be cheap, but it can be done.
Perhaps the best out for you is to have it repaired, and then trade it.
Houses flood all the time, but they are not totalled.
What caused the original problem? In my 36 years with Airstream and 4 years with their insurance division, I have never heard of a black water tank flooding the interior.Andy

Thanks for the answer on the trailer flooding. Am employee of mine hooked the city water up to the black water flush out instead of the water hookup-turned it on and left it. The black water dump was closed so it flowed into the trailer thru the toilet

Ouch!!! Does he still work for you? Maybe as a teaching tool, namely don't assume, you could have that employee clean the trailer?? Just a thought. Gives me an idea to relay to Airstream. How about having a switch on the inside to activated the water flow into the black tank?? Perhaps as an option??Andy
