My wife and I are picking up our "new" 2007 27' Classic next week. I have tried several different companies for insurance and each one is quoting a wide variety of options and prices. Are there any basics I need to know to get the right policy at the right price?
I even went to SAM and they sent me to what turned out to be GMAC. I got a quote that seemed pretty good, then as I get ready to sign up they say, "oh it's an Airstream, we just quoted you on a trailer, Airstream units are more expensive". They don't mean the price as the quote was based on the same cost for the trailer vs the Airstream. What gives? Why is it OK to charge more for an AS? This seems sleazy at best. Why would either Airstream owners or the law allow AS to be charged a different rate for the same values? If they quoted differing prices based on my skin color or religion, that would be a major issue. Why is it then OK to charge us more because we are silver?
Anyone got any recommendations? I'll be back in touch with GMAC tomorrow as well as SAM. I hope they think this is the same level of issue that I do.
I have been told that there are many levels of AS insurance and I would like to be covered without allowing someone to just take the money from my pocket.
Anyone else with similar experiences? Maybe if we share our experiences we can find a few GOOD sources and we can all benefit.
Help.
