I can't believe it. Its time to renew my policy for my AS. My current policy, Aon, has increased because I "..live in California."
I have been constantly getting mail from Good Sam to try their RV insurance. I call, they get all my information, and at the very last I am told that I will also have to ensure my tow vehicle too. The reason: Rocks may fly up and damage my AS.
My tow vehicle is with Gieco, and I have the 100,000, 7 year mechanical coverage, so I can't switch.
Am I over reacting?
Can't Good Sam at least state in their advertisements that you must insure the tow vehicle too, if you want RV insurance?
Are they just picking on Airstream for this requirement?
HHP, in Yucca Valley, We are in Riversid and also use Geico for our cars, motorcycles, tow vehicle and Airstream. I saved ~$600 over the GMAC that I left last year. And they sent me letters asking if I overlooked paying my insurance! The only thing that you might get with the Good Sam/GMAC is replacement coverage rather than current value but again you would have to read the fine print on both Good Sam and Geico to be sure.
Our currrent GEICO policy on a 2005 25' CCd is $113 per half for 100/300 liability , Comp ($200 ded) and Collision ($500 ded).

I can't believe it. Its time to renew my policy for my AS. My current policy, Aon, has increased because I "..live in California."
i live in so. cal., and have Progressive for my AS.
GMAC when i was insurance shopping was three times the price of anyone else (however i did'nt go through anyone, so i can't comment on any scams, unless you want to know about Monica L., but then i could'nt tell you anyway, so...).
so, ah... do what mr. winkie does, just over post, something is bound to stick.
Get a quote from Geico. They've been great for me including *ahem* a repair on my Airstream due to a low hanging branch attack. (You know those pesky oak trees) They were very helpful and I had a check in hand long before the repair was completed.
We have our our 2000 30' Excella with Good Sam, (GMAC) they never asked that we insure our tow vehicle with them.....So far, with thier "vacation" plan, they have saved us about 400/yr.

We had Hartford, till they almost quadrupled our premiums(2 'incidents' in 1 year, only one at-fault)...called the GMAC folks, and the rep gave me a replacement value of $125K for our MoHo...I cancelled Hartford, signed up with GMAC, sent my money, and the following paperwork gave us an actual replacement of $22K...called them back and was told that actual replacement would be $125K, but they would not cover more than $22K..."sorry for the misunderstanding". Since we were insuring 7 vehicles at the time, and were on the road(with only 2 of them), it was a logistical nightmare to try to correct. We will certainly be happy to find reasonable alternatives...the 50 cal is temporarily out of service.

I too got a rate increase this year, I called and was told the entire state had a increase in rates. So I called RVadvantage got a quote for almost half of the GMAC rate, and it's a agreed value policy so I know how much money I will get no questions asked.
Does anyone have any experience with RVadvantage?? They advertise in Blue Beret and they give some sort of WBCCI discount.
I have had my AS insurance with GMAC for over a year. They also charged me more since it was an AS. I have a 2003 Safari SS and the policy is over a $1,000. We got into some hail on May 3 with some small dimples on the front and back. Jackson Center gave me an estimate of $12,500. Since we were on the road traveling on vacation an appraiser just looked at the AS this week. Anytime I wanted to see what was going with the claim I had to make the phone call. The GMAC adjuster never has called me.
I know an insurance adjuster and I'm not suprised you didn't get a call-back from them. If there is a problem with the claim you should expect a call, or if the claim is resolved. Otherwise, it's a waiting game.
Good luck,
Rich
I believed the hype from Good Sam, obtained quotes from GMAC, and thought I was all set to finalize the insurance on purchase day. Buying your first new Airstream is complex enough, but GMAC really made it difficult......have never dealt with a more incompetent group in my life. I finally managed to get the policy in force and believe I was fortunate to have not had a claim during the first year of ownership. When I traded the '07 in for an '08, I attempted to transfer the insurance. You would not believe the difficulty, or the huge increase in premium. I got so frustrated that I just canceled the GMAC policy, and started a new one with Progressive......in the middle of picking up the new "08 unit. The only thing good that I can say about GMAC (Good Sam) is that they mailed my refund in a timely manner. I currently have Good Sam's Emergency Road Service, and hope that it is more professional. GMAC, it's affliates, and I have parted company forever. And, that's my $.02.
