Talking about tax deduction and financing

Has anyone financed with the Thor..the company that owns or has connections with Airstream?..What has been your experience if you have and what kind of rates terms can you get if you have excellent credit?..Just planning ahead...

I have no idea, fortunately, but I'd be willing to bet you can get better financing through your average credit union. Good luck.

I did my homework with other sources prior to my purchase of Classic in late 2003 and at that time, my best rate came from my Airstream dealer who wrote the loan though Thor. Not sure where things are today so I wouldn't quote you my rate at this late date. Check out Good Sam, your credit union or bank, and your dealer. He may be working with Thor or might have another finance alternative.

Guess.thats where I am..doing my homework/research Before I go and pick out my silverbullet.. ...Yeah..my bank wont do it unless it has a foundation..My credit union is next but am glad to hear that Thor did have a good rate at the time you were looking..probably holds true now since they want you to buy those coaches..Regards..Ernesto

Be sure interest is deductible...

Because your Airstream qualifies as a "Second Home", it should qualifiy for tax deductible interest. Credit Unions (ours at least..) can also offer something called "Tax Advantaged Loans" on cars and RV's whre the loan interest is also deductible if there is a security interest recorded against your home as part of the loan package. Shouldn't affect other home-based lending lending limits, but makes rates look a lot better... YMMV

hi again ernesto.......

here is a thread on financing from one year ago, with useful info....

http://www.airforums.com/forum...ight=financing

use the search feature (finance, bank rates, loans) and other info is available...

of course rates aren't the same.....

the company that underwrites loans for thor, is used by most of the major rv makers...there rates are ok...but not stellar, and may be a better choice for folks who have trouble qualifing....

if your credit rating is high, the most options and best rate offers are available....also making a reasonable down payment will improve finance issues.

i shopped online, my credit union, thor, and my local s&l and local bank.

to my delight, my local bank was competive....agreeing to better any offer....

so i went with my local bank, completed the financing a few days after ordering the trailer....2 month later i carried a check to the rv dealer...easy.

bank also agreed to lower my agreed rate if prime went down...it did not, and i don't think it will in the short term now either....

cheers
2air'

you may want to start thinking about insurance too.....

http://www.airforums.com/forum...hlight=finance

there are some threads on the 'tax deduction' issue too......so stfa noobie
