that's a really funny ad, I got a kick outta that...Imagine pulling up to the edge of the Grand Canyon. It’s dusk. The sky is a burnt deep red. You open MObi’s door and see a new way to live like a nomad...a nomad who's in hock up to his eyeballs with no relief in sight...your breathing becomes extremely shallow and you start to hyperventilate...suddenly the precipice doesn't look so scary anymore... oh wait, you're rich, I forgot...scratch the panic attack...decadent capitalist Airstreamer...is there a Buy It Now on that one? I'm feeling impulsive today...

My Moby is better than your MObi

Well, all I can say ---

So what is Moby? Moby is the ultimate restoration of a 1967 Sovereign 31 Airstream . Designed for today's middle class traveler, Moby will encompass you with the comforts of a true home on the road. Imagine pulling up to Lake Shawnee, it's dusk, the sky is a threatening green. You open the door to find that there is hail coming across the lake. But we are living like nomads and don't care, because our Moby is decked out in bright shades of aqua, lime green and deep blue, which compliment the rich original mahogany wood of the cabinets. The formica countertops of "Steel Ocean", set off the shininess of the stainless sinks, and new Home Depot faucets. The old cassette tape boom box plays goldie oldies in the background and you settle into your wood and olive green leatherette chair and prop your feet on a garage sale footstool. Oh this is the life, and it didn't cost me $170,000!!!

Shezzam! That's just slicker n' bat guano! 6700 lbs? Front end or rear end?

Well, I guess this is a sign that Airstreams' lowly trailer has finally made the big time... $170K...

Now, for the rest of us, just don't open your door and let the admiring proletariat wonder what's inside...

6700 is what Bertha weighed, before I made some minor mods...

i was all set to hit the 'buy' button...

in fact i just emailed the builder to get 3 or 4 of em!

then i noticed it has a wet bath...

which knocks the value down, 5 or 10 grand...

cheers

Come on!

Really it is beautiful. One has to admire the work even if the style isn't personally that appealing (I'd lose the clock, and the fixtures in the bath and sink.... eh... they are OK but don't float my boat.

However something that "specific" will only find a very limited number of buyers. I'm not one of them. But then at that price you only have to find ONE.

Sooner or later someone was going to do it, and frankly I do like this one better than the Ralph Lauren one.

OK, I'm going to go pet my Safari now.

Lets all PM Boatdoc!!!!

And tell him there's another obsessive perfectionist who built an Airstream.

I called my bank, the loan value is $2,500. I would need to come up with the remaining $167,500 in cash. On, never mind...I think it's overpriced...so I'm not buying it.

I must say I am impress by the restoration. I wonder if it would win the best of restoration at an international airstream rally? Anyone as seen a nicer one?

And I was upset paying $52.00 for a new light over the sink. (Which I might add, still doesn't come one when I use the rocker switch by the door.) Now I've ordered a new switch. All this money when I could have just bought one already restored. What was I thinking?
