I am new to the forum and just purchased my first Airstream. I know it is 22 ft and built in 1955, but not sure the model? I think it is a Flying Cloud, but when I look at the interior, it doesn't seem to have the same kitchen and bathroom area as the other 55's I have seen.
After looking at prices listed, I thought I paid a fair price for one that was in decent original condition. Only has one crease/dent in the side and all appliances are working (I think) and furniture (while definitely needs to be refinished) is all in tact. The floor clearly needs to be redone and there is a broken window as well. I am also on the west coast, which seems to demand a higher price tag. But after reading the forums and what you can buy for under 10K, I am now not so sure. This trailer, while never abused, was sitting for years and has never had any updates. Before I list what I paid, what do you think something like this should have gone for? Thoughts??
You own it. Don't get hung up about what you paid. Nothing will change except your state of mind. Do what you need to do to enjoy it and go camping.

that era, and that length are pretty desirable, so that sometimes effects the brains of otherwise normal, rational people . . . i stressed out over how much i paid . . . and then have since spent 3 or 4 (ok, maybe 5) times the original cost on repair/renovation/upgrading - so the original "sting" is long gone.

A trailer is worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it.
From the little I can gather from the pictures, it looks pretty nice to me.
As far as prices you hear slung around, remember, no one brags about what they payed unless they think they got a great deal, the ones who think they payed market plus remain silent....

Looks pretty much like a FC to me - only two other models of that length around in '55 were the Safari (got one of those, so I know!) and the Panorama, both of which have long banks of windows along one side (and Safari with kitchen at the front, which yours obviously isn't).
As someone else commented, the purchase cost is nothing compared with what you can rack up on the refurb - so if you're happy you've got a fundamentally sound trailer, just enjoy it!

Well can't tell you if you overpaid as we don't know what you paid. I think that one was in Sacramento area.
Yeah, I was eyeing that one. It's a great deal. I forget how much it was but if I was wishing i had a place to keep it, you didn't overpay.
I guess it all depends on your threshold of pain.
I paid more than you for a much worse one and am still kicking myself as I dump lots of time and money into it.
I still need to get over it.
Seems as soon as you buy one a better deal pops up.
From the 2 pics I see it looks like a lovely flying cloud!! They really don't make them like that anymore - I love the simpler older ones (mine's a 55 Globe Trotter) w/o all the modern bells and whistles that everyone seems to complain about not working. Besides look how much LESS it weighs than the new ones! Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy! Congrats!
Pretty sure you got a 55 Flying Cloud (me too!).
There were quite a few variations on interior layouts, which puzzled me too at first since mine is not identical to any other I have seen. Shell looks to be in great shape and working vintage appliances are pretty rare. I doubt very much if you overpaid and in a few years the original price will just be a fraction of the larger total so don't sweat it.
More pics and Serial Number (on plate by the door) would be helpful.

The price is right. You never pay to much for an AS if you enjoy and use it. I use mine every month and really like the state parks and US Army Corps of Engineers and their facilities. (25' Land Yacht - Trade Wind License: LAZRUS)
Don't feel too bad.. Just think,, buying a 60 year old trailer for 10 times what it cost new... We all have had that moment of,, ""o heck what did I just do."".
I felt the same way, and more so once I got our A$ home and started to see all the goof ball mistakes the PO had done.. Like the black holding tank was a solid block of ice. Took 2 months to unfreeze.
BUT the first outing we had at a local lake a fellow came by and offered me $5000 more than I had paid for it.. CASH IN HAND.. !!
I had just ordered a new pair of axles the day before and he even offered to pay extra for them once shipped to Kansas.
You ended up with one of the best of the best A$ in my books.. A real treasure to hold..
