I would like your opinion, I think. (hehe) I am getting ready to sell my 1979 AS 31' and I am trying to put a price on it. I have looked at several classifieds and the Vintage site that gives you different ranges of prices based on the condition. If I go by that one it would be somewhere around 14,000. I have reconditioned it and would like to get a fair price for it. Here are the major things that have been done.

New Tires and Wheels
New Refrig
New Flooring
New Upholstery Through out
New Curtains & Valences
New Running Lights
New Tanks

The exterior is in great shape and you could problably shave using the skin of the camper. Everything works great. There are a few scratches and a ding or two, but small ones.

Take a look at the pics and give an opinion.

Nice looking trailer!

It seems as though we never get back what we put into our vintage models.... but then one never knows! How about your axels? How about your electrical? Has it been upgraded, or is it okay? Brakes? The awning? A/C? How does the heater work? Other things? How about the bath? What about the water lines? Any problems, or previous problems? Does everything work perfectly?

Those are a few things that come to my mind... after I look and ooh, and ahhhh at the pretty part. I don't know about the price. I am very good at buying high and selling low.

I would compare what you can find on the classifeds, ebay, craigslist, and other sellers... see what they are selling for. Probably give you a realistic range. I would wait and sell in the Spring, however, when folks are really looking.

Tim---That number sounds high for a large trailer with 28 years on it.

...we bought ours not too long ago for a hefty figure -but the collectibility of these trailers far out weighs your assumptions on whether or not it will sell for a certain price...it looks great from the photos (and that is the pretty stuff like they said) the essentials are if everything funtional in it is functioning as a serious buyer will go to look at those things...we paid 12700.00 for ours and there were a few little upgrades it needed ...but there were only three former owners that had HAD it before and the last owners had installed padded leopard skin carpet and that sold it right there. Being a seventies type trailer we continue to interior it with like type stuff and it makes for a interesting pastime...good luck on your ventures!

it's really only worth what someone is willing to pay

14,000 sounds a little high to me too, doesn't mean you can't get it though. it really depends how quickly you want to sell it.

remember, we're going on lean times here with the housing market and my guess is most people's disposable income is drying up.

i know some here feel it's priced a bit high but when you compare it with what a new one retails for, $80k and better or what an SOB would cost i think you're not to far off. New Airstreams are increasing in price 10% a year. no reason used shouldn't follow. Bottom line --no mater what it's worth its yours and you can ask what you want or have to have out of it. --pieman

It all depends on how long you want to wait. I'm thinking under $10K and you might have someone a lot easier. But, you never know. I bought mine on Ebay several years ago and its a 73 and I paid $7K. The condition wasn't as good. But, proximity was one reason I was willing to bid so much. It was nearby and the owners towed it to my property. Just like real estate, I would probably wait til Spring to get serious with it but list it for what you want now - anyone willing to brave the snow is probably more interested. I know this is off subject but every time I see a vintage Airstream with new updated rims like on this one it really looks great to me.

10K is to low. If it is truly as nice as the pictures present it, I'd say 12-14 is not unreasonable. Sure you can find one for less but is it in as good of condition as this one? I doubt it would be. I'd put it up for 14 with a nice series of pictures and a full description and see what the response is. Whatever your listing price, you know whoever buys it is going to expect to get the price down a bit. That's just the way the game is played , so you have to take that in to consideration.

I think its too high for a 79. It looks great, however, shop around. I am sure you will find one in the 7500 =/- range. If you are in the 14000 range there are definitely better ones around too. Shop around, afterall....its Winter time.

Wait, I paid 15K for a 1995 28'
Didn't need axels, new drapes etc.

I think 14K is high

Unfortunately, there is only a small percentage of people out there who truly appreciate what your unit is really worth. They are the ones who have already done a restoration and don't need another unit.

The rest of them are stuck in the $5K-$8K for a unit of that era (where they'll most likely get burned once they figure out what they've gotten into.)

You should get at least $12.5K, and more if you can! Nice looking Airstream!

$14,000 may seem high, but we got $8750.00 for a 72 Tradewind. It just depends on who's looking. Some people see what they want and will go for it. Good luck!
