What is a good value for a 1996 34ft Limited ?

Hi,
What would be a good value for a 1996 34ft Limited that is in good condition but could use a good cleaning. The trailer has not been used in several years and does not have many road miles either. It has twin beds in rear, leather seating, corian counter tops, and awnings all around. The headliner has started to come away in the front of the trailer but is not real bad. Thanks Davis

I looked on NADA and the values are low retail $ 14,500 and high retail $ 17,470 . Are these accurate values to go by ? I usually see these trailers going for more than that. Thanks Davis

It is hard to put a price on a trailer. If you can find other comparable units that have sold recently, that would be a good start. NADA prices are always lower then retail.

The headliner issue was very common in late 90's trailers.

In our looking, we have also found the NADA prices to be 10% to 20% lower than market prices.

Thanks for the replies. I am not sure if I want to part with my 91 Excella cause it has been a very good trailer but this 96 Limited has some upgrades that we like but I was not sure about what the the trailer was worth and not sure if it is worth the extra money for the ammenities of the Limited. The owner is wanting $ 20,000 so the 10-20 % rule is not far off. But is does need a good cleaning and the headliner issue concerns me cause I know it will not get any better.Although if memory serves me correct I have read some posts about some type of upholstery screws being used and will make it have a quilted look and yet keep it from falling down. But I will never have that problem with my 91 but my 91 is not a wide body . I am sure many other members face these decisions . Thanks Davis

We went from a 1986 34' to a 1999 34', the only major difference was going to the "wide body". With a family of 3, the 5"-6" difference in width doesn't sound like much, but it is great.

One other difference that I noticed was I had to replace my mirrors on my tow vehicle so I could see past the wider trailer - the factory mirrors would have worked, but I like to see the road behiind me for traffic.

From what I understand about the ceiling coming down is in the early years Airstream was using an adhesive that was improved in the later year models.

Davis,
As an owner of a 96 34', the headliner is an issue. Ours was retrofitted with strapping to hold up the existing headliner. Not pretty, but we are used to it. This is our first widebody, and we are enjoying the extra room. Good luck with your decision.

We had a 1999 34' Classic Limited which we traded in (this is 2-3 years ago) for about $20K. Of course, that was trade-in, as we were at the time buying a new 34'. I still think the 34 Limited is a most awesome machine. We have since downsized, but I'd buy another 34' in a heartbeat.
