Yes, I've seen them sell at that price. These are trailers that are near perfect, all original and usually have full documentation. The Bambi's were made in small numbers and that makes them rare.
I'm watching this trailer on Ebay now. It's already got a bid for 10K.
I think that's a little high for a trailer that still needs a lot of work and no longer has the original interior. There a four days left, let's see were the price goes.

20,000 to 30,000......This is what I call "Bottom Fishing." The hopeful seller throws out the "line" and drags it along the "bottom" of the EBAY (or other) lake. Hoping to get that one "bite." But, that works in reverse too. A buyer sometimes can throw out his or her "offer" line....absurdly low....hoping for that one "bite."
When you look at buying....consider the cost to even get it to your possession. In the case of getting it to Port consider where it is in relation. Your best deal lies on the East Coast or near Galveston/Houston. Those French buyers that got the one from your effort last week are regular exporters and know that well. They cherry pick the East Coast. Costs are low for them. Next....you should be looking for one that has everything your will want and need.....remember the European conversion requirements....don't buy what you can't use there.
Prices always drop in the Winter.
A good Airstream person/business...like Franks in Maryland....I have never dealt with him...only go on reputation....would probably be your best bet. They would be aware of what you want, maybe where to get it at a reasonable price, set it up like you want it and reliably get it to Port for you.
Go slow.....do not fall into the "feeding frenzy" mentality of Vintage Airstream buying.

They were french? I think they paid a lot of money for that trailer....
I try to get one near to either Galveston or the east coast. On the other hand, i'm not trying to make a profit either. If my dream AS is in the middle of the country i'll just have to deal with that
I'm aware of the additional costs, i already have quotes from different shippers and i know there is insurance, taxes etc. So i know my budget and my limitations, it's just that de feeding frenzy mentality makes it hard for me to get a nice and affordable AS.

Don't let that stop you Cici. It's worth sending a message and asking the seller if they are interested in selling to you in Holland, if you provide a simple solution for shipping it...
Some sellers mean it, for others, it might have just been the default in the software settings.

Well, she hasn't responded to my mail, and price went up way to high (7 bids now). So i'm moving on....
Have my eye on a Bambi II right now, price seems fair. Calling the seller tonight (dutch time that is) to see if we can work out the details. As far as i can see on the pictures the exterior looks fine, the interior seems ok. Al the cabinet doors are removed and i need to check if they are still there. Cant see the floor properly so need to check that too. So fingers crossed

Well, the Ebay sale ended today. Somebody paid $14,900 for the 1963 Bambi. I thought that was just a little high, but what do I know?

Actually $14,900 seems about right in my opinion for that one. If it had been closer to original, they could have easily got between 20 to 25 for it. I have been watching (asking and selling) prices for the 61, 62, and 63 Bambi VERY carefully for about 5 years.
