Toy Haulers - what's the $tory?

I see there is a toy hauler on sale here on the forums. I've also seen one at Bates in Florida, and another on Craigslist.

In some ways this unit interests me, but I'm wondering why so many people are unloading thes so soon after buying them. Is it just the economy or are they impractical?

I kinda like the idea of having a trailer with a "mud room" and a back porch. I wouldn't haul anything bigger than a segway or a bike, but I look at this and think - wow all the benefits of putting out the awning without having to worry about the wind.

Seem to have taken a big drop in price - is that equivalent to what a 34 would lose in a year or two?

Hi, if I counted corrrectly, there are nine 2009 Airstream trailers for sale on this forum and three of them are Pan American's. [toy haulers] It's hard for me to understand, with a few exceptions, why someone would spend [or finance] that amount, just to sell one year later. I didn't bother to count the 2008's for sale.

(1.) Bad health?

(2.) Bad decision?

(3.) Lost job?

(4.) More money going out than coming in?

(5.) Can't handle towing?

(6.) Need a Diesel pusher to keep ahead of neighbors?

(7.) Thought an Airstream would be perfect and not need any repairs, especially by the owner?

PanAmerican Buyers

Your reasons for people putting their PanAmerica's up for sale covers them all. I am looking for one of these models and spoke with a gentleman today needing to sale his. The need for his PA changed; his idea was to travel around the country and have his power toy(s) with him in each state he would be stationed. His job situation changed, so the PA his no longer needed. He is a true AS person and did not want anything less. I'm ready to become a half-timer and have toys and wouldn't consider trading down to something less than AS. The wife wants a AS Classic or Flying Cloud at 30' so the extra length of a PA is real costly! But, having talked to the factory staff, AS knew that the PA was not going to post high numbers and charged what the traffic would pay for the AS name and value of being able to move your toys as you traveled. Look at the Eddie Bauer. It's another example of serving a niche crowd. Let's not forget, NOTHING made by AS is "cheap" to own as a new purchase! Just look at the cost of a 16' Bambi -- go figure the cost per liner foot for one of those. Yet, folks still buy them. And we see many for sale not long after they are purchased.
