Thinking of buying.....

A used air stream from a couple in St. Augustine Fla. It's a 1990 34' Limited. First photos look good. The skin appears to be dent free, interior looks like it was just used, and needs a good clean-up.
I asked if there were any issues....nope it's all good..........................oh there are no waste tanks! Apparently the people who used to own this AS had it parked and plumbed it directly to the sewer. I'm a bit upset as I'm wondering how all this was removed, a chainsaw or worse!
My question is this...Is it a mistake to consider this AS? I live 20 minutes from the factory in Ohio, and have a nice friendship with the parts people, so parts arent the issue.
Anyone know of this trailer? I recall seeing the AS posted for sale somewhere a while ago. Being new to AS I dont know many folks, and could use some info/ guidance. I have the WBCCI numbers, and am wondering if someone might help me locate some info/ previous owners. I have negotiated what I think is a fair price, I'll do the replacement of the tanks myself.
Give my your thoughts on this! I really like the Limited, and this one seems to be a good deal, I don't mind a little work to get the AS I want. Does this trailer sound familar to anyone?
BTW, I'll join WBCCI as soon as I get something worthy of putting stickers on!

Thanks for your help!
Will

Will-

First welcome to the Forum and the world of Airstreams. I would find it difficult to imagine someone going through the pains of removing tanks from a Limited! Are you absolutly sure they were taken out or did they just reroute the drain pipes. Depending on what they are asking it sounds like it would be a great trailer. There are many forum members who are volunteer inspectors, myself included. Check it out and see if you can find someone in the area in FL to check it out for you. Good luck and please keep us posted!

Rick

I'd ask for some pictures. The folks at Airstream are great, but unless you have a deep wallet, my suggestion would be to get some pics of the tank area and any of the mods they may have done to get a more clear picture of what you are getting into. If the price is really that low, maybe it could be a non-issue and the money saved up front could be placed toward replacing what may have been removed.

Welcome to the forum Will. I'll be going that way over the Labor Day weekend. If you haven't found anyone to look at it before then, send me a PM with the information, and I'll try to work it into my plan.

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

The 34 footer that you describe sounds fishy to me. I can't conceive of any reason why someone would remove the holding tanks. I would use EXTREME caution in purchasing this Airstream. Unless it's a give away price, I'd move along.
