SOS! Just looked at my first Airstream

Hi: I do not have a clue. Its a safari and the # on the plate by the door is 02280148 also the # painted on the roof is 4661. It has not been moved in at least 20 years, but it looks to be all there and original. The tires are shot, some of the windows are broken, a few dents and there is a soft spot on the floor in the bathroom. I am scared and for some reason still interested. Can I still get the windows, what year is it and whats it worth? Thanks john

Sounds to me like it is a 1968 Safari built in CA. A picture of the data plate would confirm it - but I believe the second "0" is actually a bad "S" impression.

The price is dependant on the condition and what's "there"...but it sounds like "As Found" would pretty accurately define the condition based on your description. Here are some Price vs Condition guidelines which will help clarify the value. If you have some pics to post, I'm sure we can give you some additional information - but from your description it sounds like it could have some hidden issues depending on how long the windows have been missing - the floor could be shot. If you aren't handy and ready for some projects, you may be better off looking for a different first trailer.

If it is a '68, they have Corning windows which are pretty cool but can be tricky to find, search the forums for more info on window replacement options.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do ~

Shari
