Numbers on an Airstream

I noticed a used Airstream apparently from a WBCCI member and the outline of the numbers could be seen after they had been removed. Does this affect the resale value of a specific trailer if it has the evidence of numbers having been removed? And, is there a way to restore the surface so as to improve the appearance?

After a search I could not find this issue discussed on the AIR FORUMS.

If I was puchasing, I would not be concerned about the outline of the numbers, some may disagree. I look at it as that is the history of the trailer.
When I joined WBCCI I requested the number that was ghosted on the top of my trailer.

I suppose it depends on the age of the trailer. If it is a vintage trailer, and the clear coat is pealing anyway, then the outline of the numbers won't be the worst thing about the finish. Ultimately, the owner might strip all the clear coat and shine it up anyway, so the numbers will go away. Now, if it is a newer unit, with a milled/brushed finish and intact clear coat, then number outlines may be more distracting, and less correctable. Still not as much of an issue as hail damage or a nice scratch, in my opinion.
