Not sure of year? Need help

I am trying to find info about an Airstream Land Yacht I was looking at. It had a blue plate net to door that said: Airstream Land Yacht 223D450 Jackson Center Ohio. I would post a pic, but can't figure out how to! It is completely gutted out, but is peaking my interest.

To post a pic, hit "post reply" below last post in thread.

Scroll down 'til you see "manage attachments".

Click "Choose file", then find the file on your computer.

Click "upload".

Once the file uploads, scroll to bottom of the window and click "close window".

The click "submit reply"

There's a sheet on the Airstream.com website that tells you how to decode the serial numbers, but they move it around all the time. Let me see if I can find it.

Is this a trailer or a moho? "Land Yacht" in earlier models was a trim level not the model. After 1989, I believe, Land Yacht was a model. The VIN # seems a little short which if accurate may be an earlier model. I'm not a VIN expert but the 223D may indicate the model was 22 or 23 feet long and set up with a double bed.The 50 could possibly be a 1950 which would be very rare. but just a guess.

One thing about uploading pic's I forgot to mention. There's a size limit. The way I normally fix that is to resize the pic to 1024 x 768 before attempting to upload. That usually gets it below the limit (don't recall the size limit).

The best way I've found to post a picture is to do it from Photo Bucket or some other site like that

Your serial number says its a 1963 22 foot Airstream.

To confirm the length, measure the lower side sheet on the road side.

Or, the length of the awning rail.

They should measure 12 feet. Back then, you simply added 10 feet to the length of that side sheet, or awning rail.

Thank You all for the info. This is completely gutted out and would be a big project for us but.....I am so tempted. The one other thing is the guy does not have a title, so would have to go through that process if we would decide.

Yes there is a way to get a new title, but, a good title is a significant part of the trailer's value.
