Looking at a 1970 Land Yacht 30'

Not a bad exterior could use some polish, interior needs to be done no heat, has AC, elect brakes, tandem wheel. Hes asking for an offer, I cant find a Blue book on this year,

What is it worth? or where can I find its worth?

What should I be looking at when I goto to look at it inside, leaks in what areas? windows? clue me in on trouble and expensive replacements.

Thanks Guys

Welcome to the Airstream Forums, Griswolds. Be sure to look in all areas that have plumbing, such as bath, kitchen, and water heater areas. If any leaks have occurred, floor rot could be possible. Check under beds and under sofa and dinette areas, for soft spots in floor along the walls that could have been caused by leaking windows. Check for soft spots anywhere in the floor area, especially near the entrance door. Research the forums archives located here for many threads on potential problems and solutions with the many systems and features in the great A/S trailer. Best of luck in your search, Kev

Hi! Your avatar is great! Tell the fam hello from us... and the Family Truckster ought to work just great as a tow vehicle...

You won't find a blue book on a trailer 36 years old. Essentially, it's worth what you're willing to pay. A junker would sell for around $1000, and a fully restored trailer can go upwards of $30k. The things that can go bad are furnaces (about $400), fridges (about $1,000), axles (roughly $1,000 each plus or minus replaced including labor), floors (rot replacement can be VERY costly), frame separation is especially prevalent on some rear-bath models and it can be difficult to repair as well. Everything else is about a hundred bucks. Everything on the trailer is a hundred bucks, except the stuff that is five hundred bucks!

Seriously, if the trailer floor is sound, the appliances work, and the axles are still good, it's probably worth $5k to $7500. Adjust up or down as you think appropriate.

Could you elaborate more on 'frame separation' and where it occurs on the frame?

If you use the 'search' function on the right side of the bar above and search for 'frame separation' you'll learn more than you ever thought there could be!

Another useful item to keep in mind is that the 1970 model most likely does not have a grey water tank, and the ones that did it was very small.

HI in Va Beach!

Look in the Classifieds here. There's a nice one for sale, including tow vehicle less than 50 miles from here in Moyock. See you soon in Indian Cove.

Welcome to the forums. The Vintage Airstream Club has a Price Guide at: http://www.vintageairstream.com/rr_t...ition.html#SSS which you might find helpful.
My suggestion is to check it out as if you were buying a house since you will be living in it.
Good luck the right trailer is waiting for you somewhere.
