Loan Value on newer models...

I noticed that a couple of members here asked about pricing on newer models, there are no responses given. Well, I guess one just looks at all the Classifieds, Ebay, Craigslist, Kijiji and RV-Trader to get a feel for the market. Furthermore I learned here that some members were able to get up to 18% off the MSRP. NADA values are far from reality, so there is no help there. How do financial institutions value the trailers. Bill of Sale and 30% down, they finance the rest?
Or is there actually a specific Loan Value tied to each model and year. If so, it would be interesting to see those values. Thank you in advance.

We negotiated 20% off MSRP, put $10k down and financed the balance for 20 years. Paid it off in 7 months with proceeds from sale of house..

wow ... 20%...good for you, but still wondering how loan value is determined for used AS...

Ask your bank or credit union.

My credit union loans up to 100% of NADA retail, no more than ten model years old.

My credit union would have financed 90% of the invoice on a used trailer less than 5 years old. If I was a lender, I wouldn't loan anything on a used trailer without a certified inspection.

I would go to your bank and ask them.

For that reason- NADA book value vs. asking price for used Airstreams- it is sometimes easier to procure financing on a brand new trailer, especially if you don't have enough cash.
I might have negotiated 15% off the price of my new Airstream.
I traded my other sob trailer in as a $22,000 down payment, but still owed $12,000 so the down payment was really $10,000.
I financed the rest for 20 years and 3+ years in I am still making payments.
This is not the ideal way to do it, but it got this poor man into a beautiful new Airstream trailer.
I know everyone's money situation- income and outgo- is different.
We all do the best we can.

I guess I was not clear in my initial post. I am fortunate enough not to require financing on a used AS in the 40K range. The reason why I was inquiring about loan value was merely to be able to use it as an additional tool to gauge the asking price (fair value) on any given AS. Banks use loan values for used cars and boats, this seems to be somewhat different for trailers?

Way different and not applicable for your needs. Search the classifieds here, RVTrader, eBay to get a sense of used market values.
