Looks pretty good to me - those panel are not that hard to replace - in those years they used all straight panels - no compound curves like todays trailers - so its just a matter of drilling out thi rivets, duplicating the panel and replacing - you should use buck rivets. That T 24 I believe is the type aluminum used.

A new frame will be the big challange - but the rest is a pretty easy retore - will just take some time to do. Time is free and we have lots of it!

The door hinges are lightweight aluminum folded into a "C" channel, not the later stronger flat stainless steel straps, so I'd estimate your 22' Liner was built in late 1947 or during the first quarter of 1948. The homemade brackets bolted to the outer body on each side where the spring hangers attach to the short axle subframe suggest the subframe has partially detached from the centerpole pipe frame. I recommend building a new ladder frame ("A" frame) chassis to mount the body on. It will be much stronger than the original centerpole chassis frame. One you strip the interior paint you will loose the feeling of having been swallowed by a brown bear. Have fun!

very nice...

nice find. I would not have even hesitated to pay 500 bones for you trailer. Is this trailer gutted? If so it will be a tasked to rebuild aluminum cabinets. If you are to go this route. just remember it's a labor of love and have fun.

I just love the trailer, yes it needs work and like stated before we all have time. The good part is the paint is peeling and will not take much to get it all off. What a great find for $500.00 sure wish I could luck up on one. Good luck with the restore and keep us all posted.

Mike,
I have always loved Whirlwinds and am looking for a vintage Airstream project trailer. This one sounds like an interesting find, but definitely a major project to get roadworthy again. If you are not interested in this trailer contact me. Thanks.
