How far off are NADA?

How far off are NADA values vs real value on airstream trailers. I see a used AS unit on RVtrader.com site listed for 37K and on NADA guide site it shows value of some 19K.

that is quite a bit of difference in perceived value between seller and guide.

just asking,, trying to get handle on true value vs sellers value.

Quite a bit. of course condition and upgrades have an impact....but I'd say overall at least 20 - 30%. I know I have agreed value insurance at about 35% over book value.

I've watched the selling prices and NADA prices for a long time because I have never bought a new Airstream. It seems the older the trailer, the farther off from actual value the NADA is.

If you want to know the real value of a given trailer type, watch them on EBAY. There is a way there to go back and find selling price history of things.

EBAY is not too good for newer trailer price because they don't sell very well there. But the five to ten year olds, and older ones do.

I have also watched Airstream values on NADA. They are so far off, they have become a non-resource. I have no idea how they come up with their numbers. If you're waiting to buy an Airstream at NADA Book Value, you'll be waiting a long time.

I agree with Brian. The NADA RV values are, in my experience, wildly inaccurate, particularly so with Airstreams. I don't know what their methodology is for RVs but I can't imagine how it could be as rigorous as what they do for cars.

I have the same problem with NADA. My lender will not lend unless the total sale price equals to or below that of the NADA value. I've won the battle by selecting options that trailer is supposed to have, although, they're standard, and it adds up about close enough to the asking price. Standard items that NADA considers optional, not limited to:

- A/C - Non-Ducted
- Awning - pick your actual size, unless it is in excess of 25, choose 25'
- Gas grill (cooktop)
- Electric Hitch
- Stabilizing Jacks
- Microwave (or convection)
- Refer - pick your size
- Aluminum Wheels
- TV (pick more than 1 size if you have 2 or more TV's)
- DVD
- CD/Radio
- TV Antenna/Booster
- Battery

You'll be surprised how much these adds up to the base price - and you'll see that it's pretty darn close to what Airstream sellers are asking for. I just wish NADA does a better job to help and preserve Airstream's resale value in the long run.
