HELP! Looking at buying a '57 Caravaner - WHAT IS SHE WORTH??

Would appreciate any knowledge on what a 57' Caravaner (21 ft.) is worth?
She is completely gutted, no electrical....wires are existing but not connected, no interior or exterior light, no running lights, no brake lights, body is in excellent condition for the year, tires are dry rotted, under carriage is in good shape, no interior water damage.
The current owners only have bill of sale which they received when they bought from previous owner. NO TITLE.....what is she worth?
I wanna make a reasonable offer.....but I think they are asking way too much and don't wanna get screwed. Thanks so much.

Outside looks nice but empty shell will certainly bring that price down.

There's a shell of one (57 22) that's been extensively worked on for $7000. in forums. Read that one and do math on some of those already done projects.

Maybe that will help.

This could also be a year model 1958? Or late 57' being 7 panel ends. We have a 13 panel Custom very much like Caravanner year 1957. The interiors was all there but not worth saving except as patterns.
Does the trailer still have interior walls in place?

Do you have ANY idea....

Everything that can go wrong here...has gone wrong. The shell looks nice, but thats it. I suggest you evaluate your capabilities at the work or those who will have to do it. Then there is the time element involved too....read up on this work and benefit from others experience.

what are they asking? In my opinion you'd want to do all that stuff anyway as it would most likely need replacing. If the shell is straight that in itself is worth alot. That is a good size..not too small, not too big.
I'd have rather bought one at this point than all together with a bad body.
old straight ones are hard to find and worth the most when restored.
Title is no big deal.

retrorevival : Sep 2014 I bought a 1958 Caravanner. 58s had 7 panel ends and 2 over 2 windows in the living room +2 on roadside.. Airstream from #9300 to #9399 are 1958s, Your Airstream plate is to right of door. Mine is #9389. Of all produced I know of only 8 by number. I got mine largely gutted, in Wisconsin ( also no title ) for $4,100. NE bonded 3 year title was $100 and another $100 other costs. Check your state first - some are difficult. My condition is very much like yours. New tires x 3 and 15" rims - to fully outfitted- I'm $11k all in. Mine now totally open concept weighs 2,180, and all contents fold/nest. I keep all contents (about 1,000 pounds in the tow vehicle) and drag inside as needed. My buy list was over 300 items Mine now -any weather- 11" ground clearance-, and nothing to winterize. Everything can be set up under a huge awning. Best ifyou email me lrahnmajusafret@ gmail.com or call 402 296 5161. Took me almost a year to hit the road, but mine is nothing like a camper trailer . I named mine " Yurt with Tires"

Thanks so much for your info. The airstream has no plates on exterior, so no plate outside of door with info on it. What you paid is more like what I was wanting to pay.....not 8k (asking). Yours sounds like a beauty. Enjoy!

As is usually the case I should have been more precise asking about interior contents. It has been gutted (I hate that term) so all of the woodwork, counters, and appliances including hardware is gone?

My question is/was about the interior skin as you mentioned wiring was removed. That would add a whole other level of difficultly to what sounds like a forensic restoration. Chucking everything out the door into a pile and asking a bunch of money is already costing you more $$$.

8k asking price is too much for me but stranger things have happened in the old trailer world. I think everyone loves this era, model and size but you have to have something to work with in the beginning.
