Help determining fair value on New/old stock

May I ask for your experience on appropriate pricing for a new 2009 Flying Cloud 23 FB. It is hard to even ascertain the original retail price and I would appreciate your opinion as to current cash value. This unit was apparently distressed inventory purchased by a delaer from a dealer going out of business.

As well, may I also ask about the suitability of a Ford F150 as the tow vehicle; I am concerned a bit with regards to the hitch weight of 500 pounds.

TIA

What does distressed mean? Is it damaged, if so, how? Is it under warranty and is the warranty transferable? What options does the unit have? I would think all of this is important information for others to have in helping you out.

More information is needed on the truck as well. Year, engine, tranny, ect.

Thank you. I have spent days on this site reading all of the other pricing / value threads (8-30% off of retail) and don't really know enough about the A/S option scenarios to comment (is there a URL listing of options with suggested retail prices); the A/S brochure is of no help other than floor plans ... the same for pricing on the various web sites. All I got from the dealer was a brochure and approximate retail price ... as well as their asking price. At least this site confirmed my suspicion that the pages in the brochure are in oder of increasing trim level. Sorry if I was unclear that the prospective purchase is prevously unregistered / under warrranty. At age 61, I am looking forward to a bit of travel when the soc sec kicks in and am trying to find the best value for the dollar. We really enjoy our hard sided folding camper right now, but the folding is a bit of a chore.

As I said, I am very concerned about the 500 pound hitch weight (equalizing hitch or not) ... it seems high for any heavy duty-rated 1/2 ton truck. The trailer would be towed only on asphalt as I do not feel confident pulling it off-road ... 23' would present a challenge for reversing direction on many of the side roads around here. I have thousands of road and water miles trailing a 28' sailboat as well as many air miles piloted another lifetime ago. I appreciate your experiences and suggestions.

TIA

Welcome mefly2,

A 500 lb tongue weight with an F150 using an equalizing or WD hitch setup should not be a problem. More information about your drivetrain is needed to address the issue of tow capacity.

As for the NOS value...More information is needed.

Welcome again,

Kevin

If you're buying it from an Airstream dealer, with warranty, it would be unrealistic to expect them to sell it for much less than the prevailing price for 2010 trailers. If you're buying it from a guy who usually sells other brands, or who doesn't sell RVs at all, discount accordingly.

It really does depend on how they're set up what what you're doing. If your F150 has an extended cab and you plan to take the rig on hunting trips with five of your hockey buddies and six cases of beer in back then it's not going to work out very well. With a regular cab, by yourself with an empty cargo area, you'll be fine.

Could this unit be from the big Georgia flood? The wording you use just sounds funny. Are you looking on Ebay?

No, I read a heads up post on here about a dealer in WY going out of business. This unit is from that dealership. It doesn't look like we can put together a deal, however, as I was just now insulted by their telephone offer on my trade in... about $8k low (or the offset they had in their "discount" on the 2009); so, the search continues. Thanks to all -
