In fact the trailer looks very nice from the pictures that are provided, but curiously, there are no pictures provided of the exterior streetside. If you study the interior pictures, you can figure out why there are no streetside exterior pictures . . all of the indows on the streetside are from a later model Airstream. Except for the square Vista View, they all have rounded corners and aluminum frames like those used from 1969 thru 1993. This applies to the street side windows in the living room, kitchen, and even the bed room. The rest of the windows on the trailer appear original and thus have square corners.
The listing says two previous buyers have backed out. I am guessing they backed out when they saw that the streetside windows are not original. This may not matter to some people, but it in my opinion it deceases value and should be disclosed in the auction listing. I just thought I'd alert you all, in case any of you are interested in bidding (or have already bid).

The guy has a negative feedback for inaccurately describing a previous TW as well.
That's wild, I'd be interested to hear about why it has later-model windows on one side. Sideswiped, perhaps? Either way, good eye spotting that in the photos. I thought at first they had just mixed in a picture of a different trailer!
You are either a master detective, or you are one of the former bidders that backed out.
Then Master Detective it is. I am looking for a trailer that is a little bit more of a project (and one that will cost less up front) than a highly polished one like this one. In the end I want to be able to say I brought a vintage Airstream "back to life" or "kept it going". I guess it's a pride thing. But I still like to look at all the shiney ones. They do get your attention.
I guess I've got an eye for detail and have looked at enough Vintage Airstreams to often detect when something isn't quite right. In this case, I just thought I'd point it out before someone here potentially places the winning bid and gets an unexpected surprise.
The seller posted this answer about the windows and pictures:
Quote:
Hey--Cant post any more pics(because thier are already 24 posted)Thought that there was steetside pics there--Those are 1970's windows on the drivers side & they were professionaly installed--the exterior rivets are shaved over--whoever owned the trailer before probably hated the suicide windows--will send pics if ya give an email--regards--Dennis
From what I can see, the windows were cleanly installed, possibly because the originals were the Corning ones, and no replacements could be found when they broke. The interior walls look like the ones that came in the trailer, so if it were sideswiped, it was pretty minor. I think the current amount it is offered for is close to the amount it is worth, though the polish job had to cost somebody a lot of time or money.

The trailer is listed again: eBay Motors: 1967 Vintage Airstream Tradewind--24ft. (item 330256229853 end time Jul-30-08 11:36:53 PDT)
This time the seller has included pictures of both sides. Except for the square vista view on the street side, it looks early 70's from that angle. This time the seller says he does not have the title, it was lost. Last listing it had a clear title. Something does not sound right. Maybe a salvage title?
It's a shame about the title. I can't believe it has that many bids without one. That's a pretty important thing, at least in my state! Otherwise it looks like a really nice unit, and think of all the confusion it will cause when people walk by it at rallys
But seriously, it does look nice, but I would never buy a trailer over an auction anyway, and certainly not one with this much odd about it, not without a very thorough pre-purchase inspection. Because if there's one lesson I've had to relearn over and over and over again (I'm a very optimistic person) - for every rat you see, there's ten you don't!
I have a question... Was the Tradewind available with Vista View windows? I thought that VV windows were first offered on the '68 International Series Sovereigns. I dunno.
