I never herd of a out of state dealer being able to charge sales for a state that he isn't in. We bought ours from a out of state dealer 2 states away and we had to register it here, an pay taxes here! We had to have it weighed here. We also had to have it inspected here, before they would even accept the application to register it here!!!
I think something might be wrong with that ad.
Sorry, but people who take advantage of others that way #%#R#$$%$#.
Oh well enough said.

Out of state sales tax

Many mail order houses are now charging out of state sales tax and are remitting it to the state where goods are delivered. I run a call center and one of the things our vendors are offering us is the ability to have the state sales tax tables from all of the states that charge it.

Washington State doesn't care where you pay sales tax - if you get a receipt showing you paid the tax, they don't charge you again when you register it here. (unless you paid a cheaper tax in another state, then they charge you the difference) That may or may not be the case in other states. Check with your DMV.

The ad looks to be fine - it may seem to be too cheap?, but remember it's got 6 days left. Expect it to go up considerably toward the end.

The tax is ok, you either pay when you buy or pay when you register here.
The windows look ok? Guess I am missing seeing the sun screen most seem to have,

That 31 footer is probably a little over the weight limit of that little red TV.

Well, the door is either not original, or it IS original and the PO decided to strip it since the clearcoat is failing elsewhere... maybe the beginning of someone's polishing experiment? Aside from that, it looks like the windows are not original, either... they almost look fixed and unopenable (surely not?) It could be that they just don't have screens in the kitchen, bath and bedroom windows at the moment. Some tint'll make those look a bit more normal. Looks like new drapes, too. Maybe just a trick of the light, but the streetside front lower quadrant doesn't look original. Definitely needs new tires - those are kinda funky lookin'....

That's about all I see. In general it doesn't look bad to me, just needs some seeing to.

"All appliances work." -- Yet they don't specify the furnace, HW heater or A/C.

There are many larger trailers of all types turned over in the southern states as the PO's develop health problems and go back home. A unit this size probably didn't do a lot of shore camping but a corrosion inspection wouldn't be out of line.

That many awnings is an expensive option and well worth it the further south you are. More than makes up for the installation of a Rockguard IMO.

No Buy-it-now or reserve price might suggest they must feel this will gather plenty of attention. eBay prices sure can run up horribly the last few hours.

I know you've been browsing -- the best to you!

Just a comment/question......I'm wondering if the little rubber thingies that stick out on the side wall would still be there on an older tire. Also, in pic #60, does it look to anyone else like wrinkles at the front side of the tire well, just below the right window and another on the curved panel past the left window? (indicating rear-end droop?)

Best of luck in your search!

Doesn't look like a scam. Personally I've got a problem with bidding on a trialer sight unseen and WA to FL is a long haul. Yeah, I'd expect bidding to go up in the last few minutes of the auction. eBay, although I love it for some stuff is not where looked or would look for an RV. A neighbor had very good luck purchasing a motor home site unseen from Oregon but for me that's not something in my comfort range.

It looks like a standard-fare vintage '82 Airstream. The large living room window is fixed. The rest are standard late-70's tip-out, hinged at the top. I'd see if you can get someone to check it out down there for you, Alan.

as for my avatar----it may be small but its powerful!!

I am getting a diesel truck...as soon as I can find one. With less than 300 million miles on it, that is!
I will see if someone is in Jax and can check out the trailer for me. Good advice all.

Since it has no rear bathroom....would the droop still occur?

Tires look too big. Looks like they are rubbing the outside of the wheel well. I can't see any other problems other than clear-coat failure all around. The windows look very simiar to my 1991 Excella.

I'm also sceptical about the sales tax item. That is usually done at registration time at our local DMV. We have sales taxes that include state, county, municipality, and transit district. Just alone in here St. Louis county we have 103 municipalities, all having their own taxing rules. There is no way this dealer has all that information. And guess what, if he doesn't pay, you get to pay again. Talk to your local state licensing office to find out what their rules are and whether they would allow someone out of state to collect this tax.
